FM---before or after hyst.

Hi Biz,
Sounds like you have a good specialist. I was in GREAT health before my TAHBSO. I had it only because my sister died of ovarian cancer and supposedly I would have gotten it to? Anyway I got sick ASAP with joint pains, severe! I got the diagnosis of Fibro, then Chronic fatigue, then depression. The bottom line is I had to quit work 6 years ago because I was so tired and crying all the time. It is complete exhaustion! I stay in PJ's 4-5 days in a row. My back pain is horrible and I've been hospitalized 4 times with depression. My Docs never mention the correlation between lack of hormones and all these symptoms, they just want to give me another pill. I am 100% sure it's my hormones causing me to be like this. I just don't care anymore, I'm to tired. I used to be a runner and now can barely get up the stairs. I have gained over 30 lbs and I've always been so skinny. This really bothers me. I found a new Dr/PhD who is giving me a saliva test this week and says he's had great results with post-menopausal women. I talked to one woman he treated in another state and she said she's 110% better since he started treating her. She has the same symptoms as us, only hair was falling out too. She told me she checked herself into a mental hospital! He gave her progesterone troches, NO estrogen and she's back running marathons! I finally have a little hope again, it's been 13 years of being sick for me!!

HI lLinda,

Good luck with your new dr. If you find
progestrone is not enouch then please read "Its my Ovaries Stupid" It should be in your library if I can find it in a New Zeland library.

There is so much scary info about estrogen out there but the fact is that we have been robbed of ALL of ours. Estrogen keeps 400 different body sysytems going.
Also ALL our testosterone goes and this is essential too. And they needn't be dangerous to our health.

ANd the only piece of good news I have found out is that those of us with our ovaries out ...our chance of breast cancer is halved.

Will keep you in touch. All your symptoms are the same as mine so I hope you take comfort in the fact ...."you're not alone"

The devastation that occurs when your ovaries are removed has only been
researched properly in the last 3/7 yrs.
We are the guinea pigs.........that have been tested on and basically left.

I hope you will ask the doc to measure ALL your hormones as like me your testosrone will be nil as is estrogen.

Its impossible to live normally with all these symptoms.

Keep in touch . am REAL sorry about your sister. AS if you haven't had enough.
xx

I feel like such an idiot, but all the abreviations that you're all using have left me quite lost. What do they all stand for? Can somebody fill me in?

Thanks!

Since you did not specify an abbreviation, I'm going to assume that you're asking about the FM accronym. FM, or FMS, stands for Fibromyalgia Syndrom. Here's a link to list of the most commonly used abbreviations on the Hyster Sisters web site Click Here

Sorry I was so vague. Actually, the FM wasn't what I was asking about. It's all the other abbreviations. I figure out TAH and TVH, but I don't have a clue what the others are.

Thanks for your help
