Pain on right side...please help!!

Hi, I'm 10 days post op and the surgery really went well. On day 5 I had 24 staples removed and mentioned to the Dr. that I was having pain, burning, pulling ONLY on the right side. The Dr. didn't seem concerned and said that she would see me on 2/16 for my 2 week check-up. I contineously have the pain, burning and pulling. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what is it. Should I be concerned? Thanks, Michelle

Pain

Michelle:

Do you have any fever? Some pain, to the point of taking meds for pain, is not out of the ordinary. I am six weeks out and still taking Motrin on a daily basis. My pain is primarily on my left side. If you feel really worried, then go to the doctor and press for tests.

Good luck....hope you feel better!

right side pain

Hi, I also have pain on my right side, no fever. I am three and a half weeks post surgery. It feels like a pulling and like you I asked my doctor about it. He said it is the stitches healing. I does get better every day and I found that wearing extra loose underwear and loose pants really helps. Take is easy as it seems when I do too much the pain on the right side does increase. Take care, LeeAnn

Pain on left side

I have more pain on my left side. My doc said it is just my body healing and that I need to just get lots of rest and go easy for now.

If you are really concerned...call your doc and ask again for his/her opinion on your situation.

Pain on right side...please help!!

Hi Michelle,

This pain on one side, burning and pulling, seems to be pretty common for us after a hyst. In my case the DR said it was due to the fact that he did more work on that side (ovary adhered to spinal muscle)~~~Also, apparently, whichever side they end up on after doing the internal stitching will have more pain because that's where everything is tied off/ knotted.

Anyway, if you have any fever or the pain is extreme, or you are worried, always let you DR know.

A heating pad helped me a lot, not too hot though, and gently massaging the area after seemed to ease it for me.

Take care, feel better.

Pain on right side, please hellp

Hi Ladies,

Something my doctor told me, (when I asked about the right sided pain/pulling/burning) was that since I am right handed, I am also right footed, and therefore, all the muscles on my right side would be feeling more of the pain, and if I had been left handed, I would be left footed, and feel the pain of the left side.

I can not say that he has some medical article to back it up, but it made sense to me when he said it. And when I stopped and thought of how, when, and where the pain was, I think he is correct. I noticed it especially when I was in the shower, cause I tend to stand with all my weight on my right foot, and afterwards, I could definitly feel the pain more.

Hope that might help.

Pain on right side...please help!!

Again - a post so timely to what I'm going through.

I've had INTENSE pain - a burning pulling kind of pain on my right side - it first hit when I was trying to get in the car going home from the castle...now it's when I move the wrong way and laughing.

It seems like longer since I got home, and I've been a bit bad about taking things easy... still haven't had a BM, so I wasn't sure if any of that was related - but it makes sense that it could be the internal stitches.

I don't remember if the doc said he did any more work on that side vs the other, but dang!

Pain on right side...please help!!

Hi Michelle, I too have pain on my right side. I will be 4 weeks post op this Tuesday and the pain is just starting to ease up. It's kinda funny because before I went in I had severe pain on my left side due to a bad ovary, now it's my right! My doc also told me the pulling and pain was me healing. I called him to be sure. He is great! I really love the guy! Take care a be well!

Pain on right side...please help!!

I too had pain, pulling, burning, aching on the right side. Mine didn't start until week 3. I went in for my 4 week post-op and asked about it. MD told me it was because he tied/knotted off the incision on my right side. He also thought that being more active would bring on the pain. The bad news was he told me it could take 3 to 4 months for that knot to dissolve. At 4 weeks he cleared me for all activity even with the right side pain going on. He also said I didn't need to see him again, my Reg. MD could take it from there...what a great guy! (I'm being sarcastic!)

My reg. MD has been fantastic. At week 7 post-op, I still have the right side pain but not quite as intense or constant. My big problem has been sleeping. It hurts to lay on my right side and I was suffering from insomnia. I didn't want to take vicodin which was sent home from the hospital. Reg. MD recommended a combo of Ibuprophan and Tylenol. That has really helped me to get to sleep. I'm monitoring pain and crossing my fingers that it goes away. I would do just about anything to avoid going back to my surgeon. He has been a zero as far as info, care or concern. I'm sure I'm just another source of $$$$ in what I observed as his ob/gyn factory.

FYI: I could not sleep on my right or left side at all until about 3 weeks. I had to sleep on my back up until than so I think what you're going through is common.

Pain on right side...please help!!

Had the same pain. My doc said that it is where he started the run of internal stiches, a kind of anchor. Explains the pulling sensation. Gerry
