To drink coffee or NOT to drink....

Can anyone tell me if drinking coffee is good or a bad thing to do.
When i seen the obgyn, the nurse had asked me how much i drink in a day. Told her about 5 cups,(i drink instant coffee... the real stuff gives me chest pains from a mitral valve prolaps i have) and she wrote that in my chart. Now i am wondering if i should start to cut back on my coffee.... My surg is not till April 11 so i have lots of time to cut back if needed.

To drink coffee or NOT to drink....

I drink as much coffee as you, and my doc wasnt concerned about it, but every doc is different, so I would check with your doc in the next day or two, and then you'll know for sure if you have to give up, or cut back on your little pleasure...
Hugs to you,

The big thing is if you're addicted to caffeine. I tend to get horrible headaches if I stop drinking coffee (when I have a two cup a day habit).

So a few weeks before surgery I cut way back until I'd stopped drinking coffee altogether.

Remember if you have to fast before surgery and then they don't let you eat or drink for another day, you might end up with a heck of a headache from not having any caffeine for two days.

Take care.

I agree with the other sister's advice - check with your own Doc (not that nurse!) about what you can eat, drink, smoke, have or do....

I LIVE for coffee (among other things ) I guess there were a few coffee sisters among the nurses and food service because they were so great to bring 2 cups with every meal and a few in between.
