Do most of you have 2 and 4-wk checkups scheduled?

I had a checkup at 1 week to get my staples out and to generally let the doctor know how I was doing. Then I'll go in next week for my 6 week checkup - hard to believe it's been that long already!

Do most of you have 2 and 4-wk checkups scheduled?

I had a one week check up just to make sure all was okay. Then I had a 3 week post-op check up with a bit more detail and found out I had a urinary tract infection (ugh!). I am also scheduled for a 6 week which I am told will be more "hands on" with an internal exam, etc. Like was mentioned above, every doc is different. I have only seen the surgeon once since the actual surgery and that was the morning after while still in the hospital.

my hyster was on 1-31-05. I had a 10 day check up, he checked the insision and told me it was comming along fine and that it was 25% healed therefore the internal is 25% healed. then gave permission to drive short distances and to go for a 15 min walk in the morning and afternoon. and that was all i am to do until my 3 week check up. we discussed how my surgery was done and what to expect in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks to all for your replies. I guess there really is a lot of variation on the checkups. Well, since my recovery since getting home has been pretty good, I'll count my blessings and not be in too much of a hurry to see the doc.

Thank God for this site, and for all of you. When I'm sleepless or anxious, or doing well, I know I can pop in here to get and give some support, advice, and good information. You all are awesome!

Do most of you have 2 and 4-wk checkups scheduled?

Hi Capecodsister,
Right down the road from you..Sandwich...I also have my appointment for 6 (well 5 1/2) weeks, and after reading all these posts, decided to call my doctor. They said as long as there were no problems, then the 5-6 week post op was fine. Even so, if you had the staples, or stitches taken out at the hospital.

I had my TAH on the 31st, Jan. Kept my ovaries. Lots of pain and incredible burning. Today, received the Swelly Belly Band, and have felt GREAT using that. I went out for the first time, (a friend drove), and was wiped out by the time I got home. (we only went for coffee and sat down at the canal)..I thought for sure I would feel a little better by now...bbbbuuuuuttttt.....no chance. Next week is school vacation, so I am at least hoping to bring my boys out a little, (while I sit of course)....hope you are recovering well....good luck....

I had my 2 week check up today. Dr just looked at my incisions and talked to me about how I was feeling. I have my next appt in 4 more weeks. Then he said he will do the pelvic exam.

I went to my doctors 5 days after surgery to have my staples removed and steri strips put on. He checked my incision at this time and went over the pathology report with me. I go back in 5 weeks for my check up.

Hi Cindy,
My hyster was on 2/1 also & had 2 wk check up today. He checked the incision, conducted the dreaded internal (which was not bad afterall), checked on my meds, went over pathology report & asked how everything is working so far. That was it. He said see ya in 4 weeks, rest & take it very slow.
