Almost six weeks! when does "swelly belly go away'?

Hi everyone. I first wanted to say that this site has been such a support for me these past six weeks. Thanks for all the great suggestions! I wish all of you the best with your surgery and recovery.

My question is,, how long before the "swelly belly" goes away? I am sure my doctor will release me to go back to work next week,,and when I went to try on my "work" pants, they didnt fit!
I have not gained any weight, just have the swollen tummy.
Last week, I bought some of those control top underwear,, I guess this weekend I will be shopping for new pants. ( I have to wear black jeans as part of my uniform). Oh well, other than that I feel pretty good. Thanks again!

Almost six weeks! when does "swelly belly go away'?

I had a partial vaginal hysterectomy 12-13-04 and I still have the "swelly belly". I had gained 3" in my stomach after the surgery and some days it goes up to 4" - even though I haven't gained any weight. My pants don't fit either - it is soooo frustrating. From what I have read - some people have this 8 months after their surgery. I'm praying I'm not one of those but after two months and no changes . . . it is really depressing. I'm trying to lose weight and it's not happening - course I was trying before the surgery too and it didn't happen then either. You would think taking out a extra large, diseased uterus - it would help a little . Wishful thinking.

Almost six weeks! when does "swelly belly go away'?

I am 3 months post op from a TAH/BSO and my belly is still swollen. If I do too much I swell even more. Mine is swollen from the belly button down, mine is also still numb.

Sorry to discourage ya all, I am 44 yrs old and the older I get the harder it is to lose weight and keep it off anyway...

It's ok though i am healthy.
