any 50ish sisters had TAH/lysis of adhesions and hernia repair..?

Hello,
I am building up by blood count so I can have TAH, due to fibroids, adhesions, and a repair of a surgical hernia from a past lap. I am 51 years old and will have a vertical incision, due to to site of the hernia. Right now I am at the obsessing point.. thinking about it 24/7 and some positive comments would be a relief. I suppose the thing that is freaking me out the most is the waking up part.. fear of the unknown. Will the pain be horrible, will I be puking my guts out? ugh...... catheter... and the thought a of a drain gets me. My son had a bowel resection a few months ago and that was the worst for him.. he is a big man.. do they do that for a TAH? Thank you in advance.. love you ladies. I am a Christian and you are in my prayers.
Nancy

Hi Nancy - First, a , now take a deep breath - um, let's see...I'm 54, yes I lived, I did not puke my guts out - I didn't have a drain (very few sisters do), adhesions or a hernia, but I did have a vertical incision. I was not in horrible pain. I had no complications from the surgery, and I've felt better every day since.

Did your doc prescribe any kind of iron supplement for you, to help with your blood? (I had that problem too but I'm now ((((drumroll))))) 16.2 today, Yeeesh! - just got my latest lab results back)

Does that help a little? At first I was pretty obsessed too, but my wonderful sisters here helped me through everything. We're here for you too! Every step of the way...

Thanks Joano...
Yes, you did help.. And also yes, my doctor gave me a rx for iron.. can we say " looose stools"???? . I am walking 3 miles most days, trying to eat as healthy as the blasted adhesions will allow, and trying to get my rest.. Also trying desperately to stay postive... know God is in control, and believe things will be fine. But.. I am human, and your support means a lot. Thanks again,
Nancy
