- after a follicle releases the egg, sometimes the follicle doesn't dissolve like it's supposed to, and it fills with blood, making a corpus luteum cyst. If it is hemmorhagic, that means it's continuing to bleed out of the cyst and this loose blood in the abdomen is very painful.

2) follicular cysts
- this is where the follicle doesn't burst and release the egg at all, it just sits there and possibly grows, and this growth causes pain. Sometimes they will burst and cause pain and a kind of sick feeling like a bad flu as all the junk inside them is released.

also, in referring to the cervix what is:
3) focal parakeratosis
- this one has me stumped. can't figure out the "focal" part, and keratosis is typically referring to hair or nails, so are you having trouble with pubic hairs?

4) nabothian cysts
- this is a cyst in one of the glands in the cervix.

5) chronic cervicitis
- cervicitis is an inflammation or irritation of the cervix, and chronic means it's been going on a long time.

thanks
I'm not a nurse, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night! LOL! (Other readers: If you don't know why that's funny, it's an American commercial...)

Aw shucks!

Mist, thank you for the compliment, but I just learn everything on the internet. my sister and a friend and I all have PCOS. With just about any medical condition, you just have to educate yourself so you'll know what to ask your doctor and know what treatments you might want.

I have thought I had a cyst for over 2 years, at least, that's what all my ultrasounds showed, and over the 2 years, I've probably had 12 to 15 ultrasounds. Turns out it was actually my fallopian tube which became inflamed and infected, and twisted around the ovary. So sometimes things aren't what they look like on conventional ultrasound.

So like you, I presented myself for surgery thinking I was getting a simple cyst removal. I woke up minus a tube and ovary, plus my appendix. Not that I was using the appendix for anything...

LOL!

take care!

You got that right!! Before my surgery I had an ultrasound done and it didn't show a cyst on my left ovary. When the doc cut me open he said he found a cyst about the size of a large grapefruit on my left ovary. He was surprised the ultrasound missed it. It is scary sometimes to have to rely on a system that doesn't always work. Being such a big cyst though, I was very relieved to hear it was just follicular cyst. Glad it hadn't burst yet... I have had a few of those in my lifetime and it is no fun!!!

God bless you all!
