anyone else with type 2 diabetes and HBP?

I haven't been here for a while. I have been feeling like I had finally turned the corner and was balanced hormone wise and then I get diagnosed with inherited type 2 diabetes. My Internist basically said that even though I am excercising regularly and cutting out sugar and white flour it is not enough. My risk of heart attack and stroke are very high right now she said.
I start a new med for the diabetes next week after I have a colonoscapy (over 50 now) on Monday.
I am trying not to get down about this and I know that things could be worse.....I notice when my stress levels go up then I start to head down the road to imbalance with my hormones.
Anyone else around my age with the HBP/Diabetes (2) combo?
I had been feeling so great lately after years of poor health. I guess I just need some words of encouragement.
Thanks for listening.
PS: At least my 30 year migraines have been cured by the hyster surgery so I do count my blessings!
