HELP! I don't know what to do

First I hope this makes sense Im hurting so bad I cant even think straight.
I had tah/bso in feb 03 and 2 more surgeries after that and all 3 times theyíve cut the same incision. Iíve been hurting REALLY REALLY BAD lately and today itís unbearable. Ivíe read a lot of post that talk about rectocle (sp?) and I donít know if I have that and I apologize b/c this is graphic- When I look at the opening of my vagina there is something inside and it kind of resembles the picture Ive seen of rectocle and when I strain it moves and starts to come out a little more, but not all the way out. It hurts to sit down and feels like there is a lot of pressure in the pelvic area. the pain in my abdomen (possibley adhesions and endo) is mostly on the left side and I have a horizontal incision above hair line and itís always (since the surgery) been swollen above scar on the left side and right now itís a lot bigger than it has been. I had a bowel movement this morning and it hurt and was hard to get out and there was a little bit of blood on the toilet paper. Afew minutes ago I had to shut my office door and double over in the floor in tears b/c of the pain and right now I have my feet propped up under my desk and Im trying to lean on my right side, but not too much if I lean too much the left side pulls real bad. I have an appt w/ a pelvic pain specialist March 17th and I know I canít make it that long and I called them today and I am on the cancellation list and she told me if it gets bad enough to go to the er. I donít know what to do can anyone tell me what rectocle looks like????? Iím at my witts end and I donít know what to do. The sooner anyone can respond the better.
Thank you all

HELP! I don't know what to do

Hi Casi

I hope you can find a way to slow down the pain. I really feel for you right now.
I had a rectocele and enterocele repair done 4 weeks ago. I first saw my rectocele when I looked in a mirror. It is reddish-pink and looks like a ball sitting at the bottom of your vagina. When you try to move your bowels it usually gets larger and sticks out more. It got to the point I had to splint with my fingers to be able to go to the bathroom. I dealt with it for months and it continued to get larger. It felt like I was sitting on a bulge and I had alot of vaginal pressure.
There are a couple pictures of one in the http://pelvicfloor.com/
site. go to image library, then click on the rectocele heading.
I hope I have helped you a little. The surgery made me feel so much better. sometimes if it is small enough doing kegels and increasing your fiber will help for a while.

Good luck and I really hope you can get some relief from your discomfort.

HELP! I don't know what to do

Thank you Peggy. I went to that website and mine kind of looks like that, it's a little bit smaller though. In your opinion should I go to the ER or wait till March for my appt?
I know anyones opinion should not be substituted for dr advice, but since you've been through this Im just asking what you think.

HELP! I don't know what to do

Hi again Casi

I think you should wait until your appt. in March if you can't get in sooner. I went over three months before I had my surgery. Some ladies go for years with this type of prolapse. I just chose not to be one of them. I knew there was a way to fix it, so why go through all of the frustration.I had already had enough!!
Keep doing kegel exercises and add extra fiber and colace. Don't get constipated whatever you do. This should keep you until you can see your gyn.

Type in rectocele on your computer and you will find all kinds of good info. I hope you are feeling much better now than you were earlier today.
Feel free to PM me if you have anymore questions.

Peggy

HELP! I don't know what to do

Hi Casi,
I agree with Peggy, and making sure you don't get constapaited is very important. Stool softeners and fiber are great ideas. Just start out slowly with the fiber as if you take to much to fast, it can cause gas and bloating, which will make your tummy hurt more. Eveyone is different, so if you can't bear it you might want to go to the ER. When I went there the first time though, they wouldn't give me pain meds as they cause more constapaition. I really hope all go well at your apt. and that they can help you. Also, don't lift anything heavy right now as it could make it worse to. These are just things I know from my experience's. Take care and keep us posted.

HELP! I don't know what to do

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. Yesterday was such a bad day, I was dealing with that pain as well as horrible cramps from the endo and/or adhesions. Luckily my dh did everything last night cooked dinner, gave our 3 yr old a bath, did laundry, and the dishes. DH has been with me for almost nine years and I've been dealing w/ endo for 10 years, so he knows what I'm going thru. It's nice to have good support. But today I woke up w/ a terrible headache and the hurting is starting all over again. I didn't mention yesterday that I think there may be an endometriosis implant on the outside of my vagina, there is a blueish blackish spot near the area where I had my episiotomy when I gave birth. It hurts there a lot of the time and from all the pictures of endo I've seen including pictures from my past surgeries it looks like what they call a "powder burn" spot. I'm at work today, I just hope I can make it all day, I just have to make myself. This is just so depressing, I just want to feel good again. I'm just trying to stay strong for my family. Thank you all for replying back I value your input.
One more thing - I am sorry I have been so graphic, but I know a lot of members of hystersisters have the same things happen.

I've got a dr appt..........

I broke down and called the dr that did my TAH/BSO and Iím going to see them at 2:00 today. Iíve been crying all morning and that stupid nurse I talked to just sounded like she thinks Iím crazy. That makes me soooo mad I just want to say ďlook I donít like coming to the dr Iím not a hypocondreac Im hurting so dang bad I canít go on with my daily activities somebody help me!!Ē Iím so freaking frustrated right now I hate going thru this! I know it could be a lot worse and I need to stop being a big baby, but Iíve been going thru this for so long and I have a high threshold for pain so for me to behurting so bad I canít move is bad I guess. I think Iím going to leave work soon I donít know, I just donít know anything anymore. I know this could be worse, but Iím at my witts end I dread going to dr the thought of someone just barely touching me (nuch less examining me) makes me cringe. I just want to curl up in a ball w/ my heating pad and sleep forever. I hate feeling like that b/c I have to be 100% for my little boy.
Iím sorry for this I just need to vent I guess

HELP! I don't know what to do

Casi:

If its any consolation, we believe you and if this doctor for some reason brushes you off, there are other doctors! It just means he/she doesn't know, it doesn't mean you can't be helped. Think of this as a first step, not your last hope.

Try not to give that nurse too much of your energy. As long as your doctor is treating you well - with concern and compassion, that's all that really matters. The doctor is the one in charge, not the nurse.

Good luck on your appointment this afternoon. I hope your doctor handles you gently and listens to all your concerns. Please take a moment and write down everything you want to say and bring that paper with you to your appointment.

HELP! I don't know what to do

Oh, thank you Michelle for that. That made me feel better. I'm gladyou suggested I write everything down, I hadn't thought about that. I tend to get intimidated whe I go to the dr and forget everything I'm concerned about.
I just don't know if this group that I go to can fully understand what I'm going thru. I'll just write it all down and cross my fingers he will understand.
Thank you for your reply, I'll let you know what happens after the appointment

HELP! I don't know what to do

Hi Casi
I am glad you are going to see your dr.
I was thinking with the rectocele you would be able to wait until March, but it didn't sink in to me how much you are hurting from the endo and/or adhesions. I didn't have endo and don't know how terrible it feels.
Make sure you tell him everything and get some answers. I will be thinking of you this afternoon. Please let us know how your appt. goes.
Don't worry about that nurse. I don't know why some people work in the medical field if they have no compassion.

Good luck!! s

Peggy
