I am getting nervous and just need to vent

Marian - You, of all people (or anyone for that matter) should never feel bad about posting, or venting or whatever - especially after all you've given us! And for one who - rarely - vents herself, I must say, for you, that was world-class! Sometimes it just makes ya feel better!

I'm glad the weather is cooperating and that your Mom will be with you - the list is a great idea. If you're anything like me, I leave my brain on my pillow on Doc appointment days...

Hope you get some relief! - Can't wait to hear how it went.

I am getting nervous and just need to vent

Marian,

I hope everything is going well... I also am taking topamax... My PM doctor put me on it prior to my surgery. I have been on it for about a month and I feel it is helping alot as well... I still have some nerve pain but not as much as I did prior. I also find it is helping with my bladder pain which they suspect may also be caused by nerve intrapment.

It's funny how you mention it has sulfa in it cause I am also allergic to sulfa. Knock on wood no problems!

Good luck, keep us posted okay!

Hugs,
Kim

I am getting nervous and just need to vent

Marian,
I am saying a er that all went well with your appointment. I think it's normal to be nervous, at least I know I was each time I had a new doc appt. I would be hopeful, yet scared that the doc would just think I was nuts.

I am getting nervous and just need to vent

Okay, I am finally back. Yeah I know it is 3pm and my appt was at 11:30am..LOL I will get to that in a minute..hehe
Let me start by saying how great ya'll made me feel before I went this morning.
We got there and I immediately liked this woman. We talked for about 20 minutes of everything I have been through the past few years, about my pain, surgeries, home life, work life, etc.....
Then......the exam...can anyone say "big time OUCH!"..LOL
She apologized up and down as she poked all over my poor tummy and then asked if she could do a vaginal exam..sure, why not, everyone and their brother has seen it...LOL
Another big time ouch....at this point I was crying almost hysterically but not mad at her cause she needed to see first hand what I feel. Then she presses a finger over my pubic bone and you could have heard me screaming 100 miles away!
I asked her, why did it hurt and I told her that no one has ever examined me there....she told me "hang on let me finish the exam and I will get to all that"...(and it is still hurting right now)...okay, so she finished and I am wiping the mascara off my entire face (real pretty picture)
Besides the adhesion problem, I have 2 other problems. I have Pubic Symphysitis and Pelvic Floor Myofascial Pain. I am thinking to myself "You mean I have more than one thing wrong here?"
Alright---pubic symphysitis----inflammation of the pubic bone and cartilage (what?)....pelvic floor myofascial pain----inflammation of the muscles and tendons of the pelvic floor (they are also in serious spasm).
Now I ask "how?" The answer---multiple pelvic surgeries will cause both along with posturing, in other words, how I carry myself because of the adhesion pain. She said that pregnant women also can get these conditions.
She said that she thinks she can help me relieve at least some of the pain, but that the adhesion pain will probably stick around, but I should feel better with the other things under control.
She increased my MS Contin to 60mg twice a day and my percocets 7.5mg to 2 every 6 hours. She also started me on prednisone (since I can't take NSAIDs) and flexaril at bedtime and to continue the Elavil and stool softeners. She also gave me a script for physical therapist who specializes in chronic pelvic pain that she has dealt with before in the past (who is at least closer to home)...she said that it might take 4-6 months to acheive optimal results but should notice a difference in about 3-4 weeks.
I asked her (in re: 2 new problems) how long have I had these? She said I have probably had them for quite some time so they are not going to disappear overnight. I feel soooooo much better mentally since my appt...now my body feels totally worse, but I knew that in advance, hence having my mom give me a ride
So I signed my narcotic contract...and then I asked her "why has no one before you even examined my pubic bone or done an internal like she did (she basically pushed my vagina hard from side to side)...she said "I don't know"
So now I am a little honkerblonked off that this last doc I went to didn't do it...I am not honkerblonked at my reg. GYN because he told me that my condition was out of his scope of practice.
She said that once I notice a difference after the PT has started we can try to start weaning off the pain meds a little. She said that even after these other 2 conditions are dealt with, that I still might have to take some pain meds for the adhesions, but not as much. (whew)
Sorry so long....oh, why am I home so late?..hehe...well as soon as Mom and I got in the car, I had to call my grandmother, DH and father and evidentally mom wasn't really paying attention to where she was going (she was chiming in on my phone calls) and we ended up going in the opposite direction of home...not just a few miles, but 60 miles the other way!!!!
We laughed so hard about it once we figured out what happened that she had to pull over on the side of the highway cause she was laughing so hard she was crying...LOL...and of course all that laughing didn't make my pain any better...LOL
So that is it. Thank you all again for being there for me while I vented...and if anyone has any experience in my new conditions, please post it..I am very curious.
s to you all!!!!!!!!

Oh, Marian ... this is fantastic. Laughter is healing. We all need that even when it hurts to laugh, on some level its helping.

I'm so glad this doctor was caring and knowledgable and made you feel like she is able to handle your issues. That rocks!

Finally ... some answers!

hi

Hi Marian,
Not that I'm happy that you have two "new dx" problems, but I am happy that you got ANSWERS!!!!! This is what I'm looking for also, not that this is the "way I healed" But WHY!!!!!!! This plays mind games on you, and you don't need that too!!!!!! Good luck with your therapy, I'm glad her suggestion is not more surgery!!!! I go to a new endo specialist on the 3/1, but I don't really expect much in the way of answers from him either. Take Care.

This doc sounds wonderful!!! I am so happy for you. It's nice to have an explanation for the pain isn't it? I hope you can get an appt for the PT quickly and begin your journey to wellness. At least to relieving some of the pain.

Sounds like a plan to me! My what a scenic drive you had.

I'm glad to hear your worst fears weren't realized - and I am impressed with the sound of your new Doc!

Say G'nite Marion - it does sound like ENUF for one day!
