gush of mucus

Hi all Sisters -- Thanks so much for the replies the last time I was here. Post-Op has been very trying for me and you all have been so helpful. Even when you didn't have the answers, just knowing you were there and understood (when family sometimes doesn't) was a big help.

Now I need your help again....

Background: I am almost 6 weeks post-op, AH, bladder sling, kept ovaries. I have been on an antibiodic for one or another (mostly UTI) infection for at least 4 of those weeks.

I developed a fever (102) last weekend. I went to the Urologist thinking it was another UTI since I had some difficulty urinating. He said my urine was clear but put me on Keflex (I don't do Levaquin, the office's antibiodic of choice). My fever has gone down to about 99.6-100 but hasn't left completely. A couple days ago, I started to have a mucus discharge - not too much but something I watched. When I called yesterday, they thought it was a yeast infection caused by so much antibiodics (made sense then) but as I started thinking about it, I didn't think so. I had many yeast infections in my life and this was a different discharge. Still, I decided to watch it.

Today, I am playing Lottso on a popular website, when 'whoosh' what felt like my water breaking (ironic, huh). I checked and it was a gush of thick, green mucus (gross alert: reminded me of what you get when you blow your nose with a sinus infection) tinged with a very trace amount of blood. For several minutes afterwards, it continued but much slower. I still have a low grade fever 99.8

Has this happened to anyone else? I have a call in to the Dr. but they leave early on Friday, so it might be a little while before I hear. Will keep you posted.

Thanks,
Jen In SC

Hi Jen,

Sorry hear your recovery has been so trying.

I would call the clinic and demand to speak directly to a nurse! It sounds like you have an infection, and with the blood mixed in with the discharge and the presence of a fever I don't think it is something I would chance to waiting over the weekend. Don't want to alram you, but you need to be seen today I would imagine. Something definately isn't right.

Good luck and I hope it isn't anything that can't be easily treated.
