strogen and progesterone ?

Hello Hyster Sisters,
I had a complete hysterectomy in 78. After years of
harmones, now ama tells us it's a cancer causing agent.
Now my doctor tells me I should forget the Estradiol, and
start Progesterone at least twice per day. I bought
natural progesterone(KAL)500mgs of pure progesterone per
Is there any body out there that can tell me if they are
doing something similar? Any feed-back?
Thank You,

Tessa, sorry that I can't help you out with this one, but you might want to make a post on the Hormone Jungle too. Those ladies know about HRT too!

Estrogen without progesterone

My gyn oncologist told me when he gave me the prescription for Premarin (estrogen) last July that I don't need progesterone because I don't have a uterus! I was wondering about it myself and asked him why he was giving me only estrogen.

strogen and progesterone ?

Hello Tessa,

I'm afraid I'm not much help either. In my case, I'm unable to take any form of estrogen due to the estrogen receptive nature of the cancer I had. My gyn-oncologist started me on progesterone mainly to try and help with the hot flashes, night sweats, etc. I didn't really notice a difference or improvement (at least in my case) so I haven't taken them in several months (with Drs approval of course) I've been told the hot flashes and such will decrease over time so we'll see.

If you haven't taken Cyd's suggestion about posting on the Hormone Jungle yet, I would, those ladies know their stuff.

Good luck to you,

strogen and progesterone ?

Tessa, I tried using the otc progesterone cream after by lavh/bso but it did not help me with my hot flashes or night sweats. I think it helps women the most who still produce some estrogen on their own either via adrenals or fat tissue. But I also was in instant menopause where you have been through that a long time already. I do hope the cream works for you, but if it doesn't, ask your doctor about getting a prescription for a stronger cream through a compounding pharmacy, and there is Prometrium, a natural progesterone capsul. Best of luck to you.
