I have over a month but started getting scared today!

Up until today I have really been looking forward to having my life back without pain! For some reason today I was sitting here reading some of the posts and it hit me! Now I am starting to really have some anxiety over the thing! I can't get the words of one of my friends out of my head, many months ago we were talking about my "women problems" and she told me she had a hyster many years ago and her DS jokingly said "how does it feel to be a it?" Why those words are sticking in my head today I have no idea but I have been in tears for the past 45 min! I am ready to feel better but I am scared I will turn into a real emotional roller coaster when it is all said and done! If any of you have tips to get through this time I would love to hear about them, it would be nice if I could just forget about it until that day but right now all I do is sit and dwell on it! Thanks!!!

Hi Missy,

I know where you are coming from. I had someone use the "it" line with me too - but they compared me to their dog who just got fixed. Don't dwell on it - I know it' hard. Some people are just really insensitive - don't pay them any mind. You are not an IT and will never be an IT - you are a beautiful woman with many wonderful qualities and the lack of a uterus etc., does not change that.

I had only a three week wait from final dx appointment with the surgeon to the surgery, but it was hard to do anything - my concentration was terrible. Just take it all day by day - find things to laugh about and don't hold back your fears - share here and with your friends and family - tell them you need them right now - don't pretend that everything is okay and hold it all in. I found out about the people who really cared about me when I was preparing for the surgery - mostly they just listened - they didn't have to say anything except that they loved me and that everything would be okay - and you know it was.

Hang in there - many hugs!!!!

you're not an it love

Wow, I never heard such a useless comment as the "it" comment. I hope someone doesn't say that to me while I'm on one of my last PMS benders, why I'll kick their...Two cents that we choose how we identify our gender and act on it. Post op I didn't picture myself engaging in my life as anything but the woman I am. How about a little dose of Helen Reddy, I am Woman Hear Me Roar? Maybe you're too young to know that song, but now you'll recognize it if you do hear it. Stay with the love. Noom

I have over a month but started getting scared today!

YOU TELL THOSE FOLKS THAT YOU ARE "IT" GIRL

I GOT BACK FROM THE CASTLE ON 2-24-05 AFTER MY DD TOOK OUT THE THING THAT SERVED ME WELL UNTIL IT JUST GOT TIRED. I AM SO HAPPY NOW. THE AREA THAT THE PAIN WAS CENTERED IS NO LONGER PAINFUL. I AM HEALING WELL AND I AM SO HAPPY I HAD THIS DONE. YOU JUST CONCENTRATE ON YOU AND BELIEVE ME YOU TO ARE GOING TO FEEL RELIEVED AFTER THIS IS DONE.

YES YOU WILL HAVE SAD MOMENTS - THEN HAPPY MOMENTS.
DON'T BE AFRAID - REMEMBER YOU ARE GOING TO FEEL SO GREAT - I PROMISE
