what movies have you wated to stop bordom, help with laughter or help you cry?

I loved watching all the Christmas video - you know the ones that are now 40 years old and came out when I was a kid.

then went ot romantic comedies. . . .helped with tears. I loved watching "the notebook"

Any other suggestions? I am still going to take it pretty easy in March lots of movies, but also some floor exercises and some sitting in a chair, and can watch a movie while I do that!

So any suggestions, most welcome. I sure used them in the first 3 weeks having to rest!

Playing By Heart is a great movie...part romance, part drama, part comedy... but you REALLY have to pay attention.

Hi!

Here are a few of my favorites. I hope they can be just as meaningful to you!

For laughs, try: "My Cousin Vinny"; "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles"; "Easy Money"

For heartwarming drama, try: "Places in the Heart"; "Field of Dreams"; "The Rookie"

A particular favorite is "Waking Ned Devine". It's an Irish film that's guaranteed to touch your heart and make you laugh at the same time.

Happy healing and happy viewing!

Wow~you've asked the right person~I am an English teacher and also, took a stint at working at Blockbuster when I was a stay at home mom. LOVE my movies!
Some of the more recent movies I have liked are The Notebook(really liked it~did you?), Danny Deckchair(romantic comedy), Eulogy(funky dry comedy), Stuck on You(gotta have a Farrelly brother movie every now and then), and believe it or not Shall We Dance (I am not a Jennifer Lopez, Richard Gere OR Susan Sarandan fan but this movie was quite entertaining!)

PM me if you want to keep talking movies~I really do love them but have had a dry spell of really good ones for a while now. About a year ago I would have listed hundreds

Good Movies

Hi
Some of the movies I've watched during my recovery:

"The Woman in Red" (Gene Wilder/Is hilarious/Older movie)

"Some Like it Hot" (Old movie w/Tony Curtis/Jack Lemmon/Very hilarious

"Ben Hur" (Very good movie w/Charlton Heston/older movie/Religious)

"Garfield" (Funny/I thought was for kids, but enjoyed it)

"The Postman" (different/excellent movie with Kevin Costner)

"Dances with Wolves (A favorite of mine with Kevin Costner)

"The Passion of the Christ" (Very good movie since Easter is coming) If you like the movie, you should read the BOOK!

I enjoyed Amelie (subtitles, but hilarious!), Waking Ned Devine, Raising Helen, Bringing Down the House, The Birdcage, The Shawshank Redemption, Three Weddings and a Funeral, Steele Magnolias (tear-jerker), Sideways (still in the theaters) and Something's Gotta Give.

Hope this helps!

I've watched a lot of the current movies and like the rest of you loved the Notebook. But a friend of mine dropped off some older movies that I really enjoyed . . . Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avalon. I had always heard of them but never got around to this series. It was very cute and entertaining, also easy to watch when you aren't feeling great. Another series I enjoyed was Pride and Prejudice. Enjoy!

more movies

Here are some of the ones I'm stocking up on for my recovery:
- The Cheap Detective - Peter Falk, very good spoof of the film noir/detective movies
- History of the World Part I - Mel Brooks - need I say more? a bit slow in places, but still...
- Out of Africa - Meryl Streep and Robert Redford plus incredible photography
- the Big Fish - my DH cried at the end of this one
- The Piano - never got around to it and will now have the time
- A Beautiful Mind - ditto, DH raves over it

There are more, but you might enjoy these. cj

A bunch of GREAT movies just listed above! Two that were mentioned that threw me with how much I liked them were the Postman and Big Fish (Eternal Sunshine goes along the same lines as Big Fish~sooo soooo funky throughout the movie but ends INCREDIBLY).
Good watching to all of you!
