pre approval from insurance??

I was just reading through my benefits package since alot of ya'll have had insurance problems and according to it, I just have to let them know a week before an elective surgery for them to cover it. Here I was for the past 2 weeks wondering if they were going to deny my claim. Does this sound correct to anyone??

pre approval from insurance??

My Dr. had to call them and have it approved prior to my surgery...then his office called me to let me know it's all ok. You may want to call your insurance company or your Dr.'s office just to double check. I'd hate for you to go ahead and then the procedure not be covered.

pre approval from insurance??

I would definitely call them to go ahead and get it approved. I did that and they said they'd have to wait until they got the report back from the hospital after the surgery to decide. Well, needless to say, they decided not to pay for it.

It's better to know up front what their answer is going to be than to wait and not be covered.

Good luck to you!!

pre approval from insurance??

My Dr handled everything. However, I did call the insurance company to see if there was anything I needed to do and they told me nope, your dr.'s already called. Good Luck!

pre approval from insurance??

Thanks ladies, my doctor's office is handling everything. His nurse told me when we scheduled it that she would be in touch with them. That was over 2 weeks ago, so I'm sure she's contacted them by now. She said she would call me if there were any problems. I may go ahead and give her a ring tomorrow just for peace of mind.
