I'm 2 weeks. I get some back pain some abdominal pain. Bowel pain when going or passing gas and finally a lot of times it hurts to pee. Is that normal? Today it just started to feel like somthing is falling out. I hope it is just the swelling. I know I probably do to much. I also got a really bad cold 1 week after the surgery I was coughing a lot blowing my nose and I had a feaver. Could the coughing cause prolapes?

Hate to tell ya this but...YES.....heavy coughing and hacking can and will cause a prolapse. I had a TVH in Nov 2K4 and got slammed w/ bronchial pneumonia 5 days out. I was pumped full of meds of all sorts but you still end up coughing even as careful as you might be.

Here it is March and I just had a TOT ( sling fix) for a saggy bladder and urethra. No one knows the exact reason cause I do not fit the " profile" for this. The only thing we all can come up with the the pneumonia I had cause the slide South.

Be careful...I used a tummy pillow to cough and sneeze, etc. Now it just might have been my destiny to go thru this so soon after the TVH...but be careful.

The only cough meds that I've taken that work was hycoden (sp?) It had codein in it... so it helps with pain too.

I have pain (a little) with urination still... at 4 weeks. Doc says it's bladder spasms (at 2 week check) and will diminish with time.... and it has. He says the back and side pain are from using those muscles to compensate for the abdominal muscles... recline or lay down more, if it helps, that's what it is... I had the bowel pain when eliminating until 3 days ago the pain from passing gas was gone at about 3 weeks... I know it's difficult, but try to relax through it, it makes it less painful. Also, using stool softeners helps... The more you evacuate, the less painful it is.

Hope this helps some!!!
