3 weeks post op

Well I am finally allowed downstairs to get at the computer!

I had my op 3 weeks ago yesterday, tvh with bowel, bladder & perineum repair. Dr. said it was "a difficult surgery" My prolapse was much worse than he was expecting and I have what he called"weak tissues" and lost alot of blood. Was pretty well out of it for 48 hours, then they removed cath and sent me home on day 4.

That turned out to be a mistake as i was still not voiding well and ended up in emerg on day 8 with a major bladder infection. Spent 5 days on IV antibiotics & fever reducers(fevers of 39-40 degrees).Hubby wasn't sure what was going on, just noticed I couldn't seem to stay awake. Took a few days to realize I even had fever. I just kept saying I was cold, he got worried when he asked me something about kids and I said I didn't care.

home again feeling much better, but still finding it hard to sit up and move around. Saw Dr. on Thurs and he said to "do nothing that required more effort than moving my pointer finger" for another 6-8 weeks.

I can only go up or down stairs 1 or 2 times a day, and still no driving. Being tended on for that long sounded great before surgery, but it is already driving me crazy! I am so sick of being stuck in house.

Dr. is worried that if i do too much I will get too much scar tissue built up inside, and that will make next surgery more difficult. I guess due to my age(38) and the "weak tissue" problem , he is pretty sure my vagina will drop again in 5or 6 years and have to be fixed again(yippee!)

I am not going to worry about that now tho, cause hopefully I will have had 5 pain free years by then and my kids will be older(now3,5 &8) and recovery hopefully a little easier.

All in all still happy to be on the other side of surgery, Dr. said if I had waited much longer it would have been an emergency hyster and that is sometimes more difficult to control.

Hope my other 3 week sisters are all doing well!

Wow! I think you are more than entitled to some smooth sailing! Please rest and be a proud couch potato! The more you rest the more your body will repair! Each week will be so much better and before you know it you will be outside in the sun, wondering what happened to that "old self"!Be well and be patient-the best is yet to come!acpd

I will be praying for you... I am 3 weeks fixing to go on 4 and I feel real good and I have even been out of the house.... Even before I was suppose to be....Still not driving though...I go to the Dr. Wednesday March 23, 2005 so I will see if I will be released or not........I did have trouble after the surgery because my incision started leaking and I had a hole in it but Dr. put me on a strong antibotic and it healed up..
I am sorry you are going through a lot and I will be Praying for you.........

Take it easy and relax
