Getting closer....

Well, since the dr is pretty sure that my insurance will require a D&C and lap before they approve a hysterectomy, my nurse set up an appointment for that surgery (D&C/lap) on the 14th, bless her heart! She said the dr hadn't gotten to my chart yet (in response to my request that he set up an appt and get it over with), so she "stole" it and set up the surgery herself!

I guess these procedures are to rule out cancer and stuff? Weird that the insurance would pay extra for this stuff when they don't want to pay for the hysterectomy.

What is a D&C/lap like?

Love, Leanne/newt

D&C/Lap

Hi,

I have had two D&Cs and 4 Laps. I found them all to be very easy to recover from. I bounced back rather quickly. You only usually have two very small incisions for the laparoscope, etc.
I didn't really have much pain from the D&C/laps. I had three hernias repaired via laparoscopic surgery also and even that wasn't traumatic.

Wish you the best of luck.

XO

Wow, you have been through the ringer, heh! Are you nervous for your surgery on the 6th? Or you are probably looking forward to it!

It's a mixture of nerves and excitement. It will be nice not to have the pain, etc. all the time but I am concerned about the recovery.
I can't be away from my job too long and after reading all the posts, it will definitely be longer than I expected

How about you? What problems are you having?

I have uterine fibroids, the largest of which is 5 cm, an enlarged uterus (14 wks' gestation), a 2nd degree prolapsed uterus which is also retroverted and smooshing down on my bladder so that I have to pee all the time.

Don't you just love that feeling of all your organs falling out?
Just makes you want to reach up there and push everything back up in...............

Hopefully you will be scheduled soon for your hyster.

I just had a d+c and Lap and hysteroscopy (goes with d+c) on the 29 March. I went to work today and I did work yesterday for a couple of hours although I didn't really feel up to it.I am a massage therapist. So I set my own hours.
The procedure was a breeze. You can read my posting titled "had my biopsy done" that was the only not so good part. Otherwise it was a walk in the park.
I had one scarey moment waiting for the sleep to come when they strapped me to the table and I looked at my doc and said
" no feeding tube okay...." next thing I knew a nurse was asking me if I would like a drink and I said I don't think I am allowed to drink anything until after the procedure.
Surprise! It was all over, no memory of nothin'. Very little discomfort , little cramping, a little soreness in my shoulder later in the evening from the gas but no need of any pain medication at all. I did sleep most of the rest of the day and that night.
If only the hyst. could be this easy!!!
Don't be scared.

Hi sisters! I am scheduled for a D&C, hysterscopy and lap on
April 12th. Should I expect to be off work for 2 days? Maybe more? I know the dr is also looking for adhesions so he might zap some of those while he is in there.

Any tips for on this stuff would be helpful. I've never had any of these procedures before...

I just had the D&C, lap and hyst. scope done on 3/10, but it was exploratory, so I was out of work for 7 days. With the exploratory, it is much more painful because they "handle" all of your organs. I am still in pain when I move certain ways or when my children hug me a certain way. It just depends.

stay blessed

Thanks everyone for your help, it is so nice to be able to talk to you and feel better about all this stuff---Topasj, I read your biopsy thread (ew, the IV thing was yucky---sorry you had to go through that)---how do they "strap you down"??? Can you request that you be asleep at least before they do that?
