VERY Painful Vaginal Ultrasound

Well I'm now 8 month post of and just over the last month started with my old symptoms again (bloating, aching in abdomen, lower back and groin, and painful intercourse). My doctor said lets start with an ultrasound to see if it is a cyst since I've had them before. Today was my 3rd ultrasound and they have been painful in the past in fact the ultrasound tech mentioned that it was unusual for it to hurt, but today was almost unbearable. I was crying and backing up farther and farther on the table while she was trying to look at my left ovary. My right one was bearable, but the left was too much. The tech actually stopped and said she couldn't get the pictures and couldn't take hurting me anymore. I got composure of myself and told her I needed to finish to be sure it wasn't a cyst otherwise I was going to have to have another lap. We managed to finish, but there was no cyst. I called the nurse in and had her go over my file with me because after my first lap last March my doctor showed me pictures of a small spot of endo on one of my ovaries. After My hyst in August I asked if she removed the spot and she said I didn't have any endo. It's been bothering me ever since. So the nurse went through my file and said there was nothing in there about endo on my ovary and the pictures from the lap were clear. I'm so confused. Maybe I misunderstood. So where does that leave me? No endo, No cyst............What is going on? Why would an ultrasound hurt that badly?

VERY Painful Vaginal Ultrasound

Dear Jennifer;

I'm so sorry that you are having such a tough time right now. Maybe you should go for a 2nd opinion. At my last sonogram I too was so afraid that it would be painful , like the last few times. But the technician said a sonogram should never hurt. And she didn't hurt me.
Bleeding since last August doesn't sound right. Please consider a getting a 2nd opinion, perhaps a CAT scan of your pelvis.
Sending you warm wishes for a good day.
Give us an update.

VERY Painful Vaginal Ultrasound

I also experienced the same symptoms you mentioned when I was about 3-4 months post op in Feb. My dr. did internal ultrasound and it was awful! Afterwards, my pain intensified from about a 5-6 to 10+. I couldn't stand up straight again until the following day. My results were inconclusive also. Dr. did a lap the following Tuesday. I had a post op infection above the vaginal cuff which had not healed (even though I took 2 antibiotics) and it caused massive adhesions. My appendix was pulled into the mess (doc said it was pulled like a banjo string), part of my bowel was also in it - but the reason the ultrasound hurt so badly was my right ovary was attached to the back of my vagina. So he cut every thing loose and reattached it where it all belonged and now 6 weeks later I am feeling better than ever. So good luck to you in what you find out.

VERY Painful Vaginal Ultrasound

My doctor called me this afternoon and said that the only way to know for sure what is going on is to do another lap surgery. I agreed, so I'm just waiting for the girl who does the scheduling to call me back. I'll let everyone know what happens. I wish the lap was tomarrow, my abdomen is very swollen and I'm having a lot of abdominal aching and lower back pain. THIS *****!

Dixiet, I can't believe what happened to you. That sounds so painful! I'm glad you are doing better now.

Jennifer
