UFE worked for me :)

Hi - I had UFE in February of 2004 and it was successful for me in resolving bleeding problems - the only real problem I had with the fibroids.

I just wanted to add that anyone who would like to consider the UFE should be seen by an interventional radiologist to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for this procedure. No offense to your GYN but they are not trained in this procedure, do not perform it and generally do not make an accurate assessment of whether a person is a good candidate for it or not.

I had the procedure - my fibroid was quite large (10cm) - the procedure worked for me. For me the procedure was not really painful because pain can be controlled with medication.

I did this on my own. My GYN did not tell me it was an option and when I informed her it was, she told me all she knew about it was that it was painful. It was certainly not painful enough to avoid having it. I can't imagine it was any more painful than a hyster - her treatment of choice. The big plus for me was that I could go back to work after a week.

Good luck to all in making a decision that is right for you.
