Watched Oprah and now I'm wondering . . .

Ok, saw those doctor sisters on Oprah today. Now I'm concerned about sex. (I'm 16 days post op!!) I don't have a cervix (or anything else related to reproductive organs). I don't know how many nerves were totally destroyed. I don't know if it's gonna hurt. I don't know if I'm even ever gonna WANT to have sex again.

OH NO!!!!

Hi Arctic,
I too, watched Oprah today. I'm not sure how I feel about what was stated. I had my 5 week check up today and the doctor said I could resume all normal activities.
The examination went as normal, no unusual pain as I had anticipated.
Unfortunately, my hubby is on duty tonight so some normal activities will need to wait until tomorrow. The way I have been feeling lately, tomorrow should be wonderful. Let's hope it's the minority that loses their libido.

Peace and Good Healing,
Dee TAH/BSO 1/9/01

PS I still have numbness in my right quad, but I have felt some feeling coming back slowly. The feeling near the incision may take a few more months to heal.

me too

I watched today too, hoping they would cover more about us hystersisters! Darn Oprah kept interrupting! I am not scared yet. Guess we are just fearing the unknown. We wont know til we get there will we? Im tryin to keep a postive attitude for when the big days arrives, I still have to wait a bit, pout-pout! I have read that plenty of sisters have resumed a very content sex-life, lets hope we are a part of that group!

Hi Arctic...
I am right there with ya...
I too watched Oprah, and it made me scared all over again.
One of my biggest fears when I found out about the Hysterectomy was the sex thing. I am not trying to sound strange or anything, but I had a wonderful sex life and really LOVE IT!!!
My Doctor was supposed to leave my Cervix and ended up having to take it. It helps to read the positive responses from the other sisters that are enjoying it. But, I have to admit I am nervous about it..
Take Care...
Love, Donna

Hi ladies...

Just wanted to pop in here and tell you that sex could never be better at 9 weeks post op!

Remember that everyone is different and take all of the horror stories with an open mind.

I don't have a cervix either, and all I can say is the orgasms feel the same, sometimes even better that before. The only thing is maybe a decreased libido, but I was kind of getting like that before surgery. Sensation though, feels no different to me without a cervix, I know some other sisters were worried about that too!
Sincerely,
Carole (Spot)

Same here....I will be 3 months post-op tomorrow from TAH and sex is FABULOUS!!! I had lots more pain BEFORE surgery when dh and I had sex, not to mention the horrible bleeding after. I had sex the first time after surgery at my 4 week post op mark and it was still a little uncomfortable (I didnt listen...bad girl!) and then we waited til 6 weeks post op and it was great then and just keeps on getting better! Dh says its just as good now as before if not better to him also. Hugs,
