recovery time

I am scheduled for an LAVH May 04. My husband is freaking out!! How long should I expect to be in the hospital? I heard the recovery time was quick-like a week or 2. Is that correct?

recovery time

Hi - I'm having an LAVH on the 4th too.... and would appreciate hearing what other's recovery times have been as well.

HOWEVER.... I plan on taking 4 weeks at the VERY LEAST. Because this is still major surgery, even though we won't have the abdominal scar to show it, we're still going to have a major piece of our body removed on the inside, and the inside needs time to adjust and recover too.

I made the mistake of going for a 5 mile hike to see the Cascades in VA about 2 weeks past a laprascopic tubal ligation, because I thought everything was FINE because I felt GREAT! Well, I ended up back in bed, bleeding and had to "re-recover." NOT a mistake I plan on making again.

Hang in there, talk to your Dr. and see what they have to say. I know the recovery from the LAVH is supposed to be a little shorter, but you still need to make sure to take the time your body needs!

take care,
Lycoris/Lisa

recovery time

I had LAVH too. The recovery time is still 4-6 weeks in most cases. Even though you do not have an abdominal cut, you still have many internal stitches that need to heal. Some ladies are allowed to go back to work between 2-3 weeks depending on the type of job. I will be out the entire 6 weeks as I work retail and my job requires lifting. I was also restricted from sweeping, mopping, vacuuming the entire 6 weeks. I would plan on doing very little the first 2 weeks and gradually ease back into things after that upon your Dr's approval. You will find in most cases that you become very tired from even the littlest tasks. I know at almost 6 weeks, I still become tired when I'm overly active. As far as the hospital stay, it varies between 1-2 days. Just remember to rest and follow whatever instructions your Dr gives you. Good Luck!

recovery time

I had my LAVH 4 weeks tomorrow. I was told by my DR to plan on being off of work for 6 weeks. I started working from my home at 2 weeks and felt great. I just could sit up for long periods of time. Heck, don't plan on doing anything for long periods of time. I'm getting bored more than anything. I think I could probably go back to work part-time. But....I'll continue to work from home. Thank you very much
