needing to splint after rectocele/enterocele repair?

Hello
For the most part I am feeling better. I have quit doing the heavy lifting and taking it easier at work. I think I really overdid it when I returned from my posterior repair.
Sometimes I do need to splint in order to empty the stole out. Have any of you experienced this after having a posterior repair?I am afraid I will mess up the repair, but it feels better than straining and making my abdoman hurt. Sometimes I go easily and other times it is very hard. I really have to push. I had the anal testing and it came out ok saying my colon was working properly. This was a relief. I do notice when I am having a hard time going I can feel a hard area on the bottom og my vagina, which I know is the stole under the tissues. Just like when I had the rectocele, but minus the big bulge. If I push down on it or push near the back where my enterocele was I can go easier. I continue to take miralax as directed, stool softener and drink metamucil. I have also increased my water intake. I am trying very hard to do exactly what my dr. suggested.
I just wondered if it is common to still need to occasionally splint after having the repair?(3 months ago already)
Thanks
Peggy

needing to splint after rectocele/enterocele repair?

Hi ((((Peggy)))) So sorry you're still struggling, at this stage of your recovery

As you know, I had a Stage III Rectocele repaired at the same time as my hyst so, since I had the "nothing in the vagina rule", I would not have been allowed to splint. However, I have not had to do this ever since my hyst, even on those days where I have to strain a little more

I would really discuss this with the doctor who did your repair, just to be sure that all is ok. It could be that, for some reason or other, something is preventing you from emptying effectively.

Sending tons and tons of s your way.

I agree Peggy, I know you don't want to go to the doc, but I think if you still have to splint after the repairs, something is not right.
