coughing, rectocele OUCH

I've gotten a nasty cough and cold and the coughing, sneezing, nose blowing is causing me a LOT of pain and pressure on my rectocele. If I sort of hold those muscles in, then I'm having a pain and pressure along my incision area.

Which place is more important to support?? I can't seem to do both at the same time.

Hi Tacy

sounds more like you are talking about a enterocele. It is located at your lower intestines which bulge into your top posterior vaginal wall. I had both and around my abdominal incision really hurted when I let go of a big sneeze or cough. I would support your lower abdominal region.
Eventhough I had my rectocele and enterocele fixed over 3 months ago my lower abdominal region is still sore when I cough or sneeze. I guess I am dealing with scar tissue issues too.
I hope this helps and that you get rid of that nasty cold.

I had my rectocele repair April 20th and caught a cold as well. I found that bringing my knees up to my chest or curlilng up into the fetal position while coughing really helped. That's the only way I know or have advised anyone to splint with that kind of surgery. It's not like you can really press a pillow tight enough down there to help any. Good luck to you and I'm sorry you're having to deal with it. Have you called your doc about this? He might be able to prescribe you some cough syrup to prevent coughing....and to keep you from popping stitches. I don't know what post-op pain meds you're on, if any, but Vicodin also works really well for coughs.
