Calm?? Is there such a thing before? This is how silly I am. Today I go see the dr. to set up a surgery. Didn't sleep all night. Forced myself to stay in bed at 1:30 am and by 3:30 am I was up. By the time I see the dr. I will be a zombie
Much good luck to you-you're in the home stretch! If you find calm send her to me later!!

going to the hospital

Today is the one week anniversary of my surgery for endomitroid adenocarcinoma.

From the time the biopsy came back with the confirmation of what I then started to refer to as The Rot, to the date with the surgeon was 2 weeks, then 12 days to surgery.

You want to talk nervous?! You could have peeled me off the ceiling at any time. Between the crying jags, the up and down emotions, was horrible. Till the day before surgery, when a curious calm came over me.

Best wishes to you.

if it's tomorrow, you're going to be fine! like one of the other posters said, a strange calm comes over you in those last hours. I was a basket case on Saturday, and most of sunday was blessedly taken up with friends. Sunday night, by the time we'd watched our shows and everything, it was time to take the phosphosoda and start dealing with that.

and then the calm set in. Once I'd taken the Liquid Plumber for People, I felt like it was inevitable, and I just kinda concentrated on getting things together, writing any last e-mails to friends and family, and putting all my e-lists on web-only. That night, I was on the HysterSisters site for most of the night, talking to, you guessed it! Ladies who were also awake and nervous about their surgeries the next morning.

You'll be fine. Heck, you're just a few hours away from having it over-with!

It's perfectly normal to be scared about an upcoming surgery. We all were. Why not take some time for yourself today and take in a movie, have lunch with friends or get a massage.

The day before my surgery we watched funny movies at home. It was a great stress reliever and worked for me.

Have a day of pampering if you can, just for you. You deserve it!

Sending healing s and

This Strange Calm you speak of...........I'm waiting. LOL I cannot hold a single thought for even a moment. I can honestly say I have never been so rattled. Just Shoot Me!! Of all the things I could be doing to relax .........I'm doing laundry and cleaning the house for the 10th time in 3 days.
Take care sisters you all have been so supportive, reading your post everyday has definately got me through this waiting period. I look forward to seeing you on the brighter side.

I am also having surgery tomorrow May 19 (LAVH WITH POSSIBLE BSO ENTROCELE/POSTERIOR REPAIR) so I know what you mean about trying to stay calm. I think what has helped me the most is staying busy. I have been spring house cleaning and trying to get the house ready so my DH and DDS can keep it that way while I am recovering. My doctor suggested walking twice a day before my surgery and think this has also helped. Yesterday afternoon my darling daughters treated me to a pedicure at the salon and getting out of the house really helped me. I wish you the best and I will keep you in my prayers. My surgery is at 7:30 what time is yours?

going to the hospital

HI Ladies, I had my TAH/LSO 3wks ago. and in the weeks before surgery it was all I could think about . all day all night lost alot of sleep worrying about what could go wrong. but it is true the day of surgery a strange calm does come over you. for the 2wks leading up to my surgery my blood pressure was so high my doc almost cancelled. and the morning of surgery I was so worried that when I got to the hospital and they took my blood pressure thet they would do just that. well when they took my pressure it was just fine and surgery proceeded. it was 5hrs late because the poor women that had surgery before mine had some major complications.but I remained calm during the wait and by 3:30 when they weeled me in to OR I was completly calm don't even remember going into the OR. last thing I remember is kissing DH goodby and next thing I know I am waking up in recovery.so all I can say is try and relax I know it is easyier said than done. good luck to all of you and we will see you on the other side, Cathy
