Endometrial Biopsy

I just had my endometrial biopsy in preparation for my TAH/BSO on 6/21. It really wasn't too bad! I didn't know they numb everything first. I felt the first injection (barely) and that was all! Okay, if that goes that well, hopefully everything will be that easy! I know--don't get your hopes up!

Good for you getting num,ber first! That's great! I did not get anything prior to the biopsy - it was a spur of the moment thing. It was ouchy - I actually swore at him (sort of embarrasing as my dh is a dr too and knows this guy!). It wasn't the actual biopsy part that hurt - it was the tenaculum they put on the cervix - and I was one of the 10% that needed TWO of those evil little things!

BUT - I lived to tell about it. If I had to do it again (NOT!) I think I would take some advil or something ahead of time or if I had someone to drive a stiff drink! haha

Glad it went so well for you - let us know when you get results, OK?

Endometrial Biopsy

Boy I wish I had been given something to numb me before this test. I've had it done twice (lucky me) and both times I thought I'd go through the ceiling it hurt so bad. It was VERY quick (only a few seconds), but it hurt a LOT. I had even taken a prescription strength naproxen sodium ahead of time. I can't even imagine what it would have been like without that. I don't mean to scare other ladies that will be having this test without the numbing, I know of some women that had it done and had very little or no pain. Guess I was just one of the unlucky ones.

Endometrial Biopsy

I am scheduled for a TAH/BSO on June 16. My dr hasn't said anything to me about an endometrial biopsy.
I had a laparoscopy 3 months ago and I know they took a biopsy then.......is that the same thing?
I know.....it probably seems dumb not to know.

I also had an endometrial biopsy and my doctor told me to take some ibuprofen before coming to the castle. I could feel the biopsy but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think I was more afraid of the possibility of pain and when the biopsy was finished, I thought this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I definitely think taking ibuprofen helped me. I drove home from the castle when the procedure was done. I would have liked to have had my DH drive me home, but he wasn't able to take time off from work, however it was manageable.

Endometrial Biopsy

Thanks for posting a positive reaction or experience. I'm having my biopsy in the morning and was feeling a bit apprehensive.
I was instructed to take two advil two hours before my appt. but that will be difficult since the appt. is for eight a.m..

My doctor said the procedure would be painful but others have said it isn't so bad. Since I was planning on going right to work afterwards I'm hoping for the best.

Did your doctor say how long you would have to wait for the results? I'm hoping they tell me Friday because I'm rather anxious and don't want to wait till Tuesday due to the holiday.

When I got home this evening there was a voicemail from the imaging place saying that they wanted to discuss the results of my mamogram. Pretty sure from what I was told that means something was abnormal. My doctor should have the results at my appt. in the morning. One more thing to worry over..sigh..

Best of luck to you and others that are on this journey. This site has been a true blessing and source of information.

hugs to all

Endometrial Biopsy

I have an appointment in 2 weeks to get the result of the biopsy. Because we didn't schedule my surgery until 6/21 due to my mom being here for a visit (want her to go home before the surgery!), we have lots of time to get everything done. It is possible the results could be back much sooner, but my doctor just said to make the appointment for 2 weeks.

I did take a couple of Tylenol before I went in, but with the Lidocaine, I really felt very little. The first shot of Lidocaine was so easy that I flinched and then I felt it and realized I flinched for nothing (much less than a shot for dental work!). The other 2 shots of Lidocaine, I didn't feel at all. I did have some cramping while she was doing the biopsy and that has continued, but not much more than the usual monthly stuff.

I know it isn't that easy for everyone, but I had no trouble driving myself back home afterwards.

Oh, Gemini27, I forgot to answer what you asked. My doctor said the biopsy was just a precaution. She really doesn't expect to find anything unusual. It's a scraping of the lining of the uterus. They may have already done that when you had the lap, but ask your doctor if they need to do that.

Thank you Kathy for the info. I will be sure to ask the doctor if she plans on useing Lidocaine. Surely a doctor wouldn't want a patient to experience pain that was unnecessary.

Hope you have a great visit with your mom. To tell you the truth I would be a basket case if I had to wait two weeks for the results.

Don't have a date for my surgery yet but I'm going to ask today if we can aim for June 6th or 7th. I wanted to have the biopsy so I could make a more informed decision on keeping my ovaries or not.

Information is a powerful tool to help get through this.

Thanks again
