Another Doctors Appointment!

Well, Went to the general surgeons office and it really wasn't what I expected, that is for sure. He asks me my symptoms and such and I began to tell him all! He has me lay back and looks at my TAH incision. He said it looked fine. He then starts to push and mash around on my lower abdomen. He starts at the right side and he gets in this certain spot and I about come off the table it hurt so badly! I actually teared up! He starts working his way to my left side and it was fine, he could push and mash around all he wanted over there...which really shocked me, considering it had some subtle pain this morning. So I guess he wants to cause me more pain and has me act like I was raising my head while he mashed on my right side again and after the first time, I couldn't do it anymore...it hurt that bad.

So, he finishes and tells me to get up, I did. He starts telling me how he thinks it might be muscles in my abdomen that are trapped or it could be scar tissue that is trapped also. He says that the severe cramping I am having could be IBS. So, he scheduled me a CT Scan for tomorrow morning at 8 and gave me a medication called chlordiazepoxide/clidinium. I looked this up and this is what it says:
What is chlordiazepoxide/clidinium?
This combination acts on the muscle in the wall of the gut and also the urinary bladder. It relaxes the muscle and prevents spasms from occurring. It also can slightly reduce the production of stomach acid. There is also a sedative in the product since, in some instances, stress can aggravate intestinal spasm.

SO, Like I said, wasn't what I expected and I am still really confused. I did take my records to him also and he stood outside the door and looked thru them, as I could see him in the mirror. I don't know what is wrong with me and I am wondering if he told me that today, just to pacify me until after the CT Scan. Now, if the CT Scan doesn't show anything, I wonder what he is planning on doing next?

He did say that if it is what I mentioned above, there are shots they can give me in my abdomen to relax the muscles and nerves to make it quit hurting. Would this be long term, I mean come on!

As I left that office my eyes filled with tears. I don't know if its because he hurt me so bad or if it's because I don't really have a cause for my pain!

Thanks for listening!
Keri

Sometimes the hardest part of dealing with pain is not knowing what is causing it. I sure hope your test goes well and you are able to get some answers soon.

Have you tried the medicine yet? Did it help any?

I will say a prayer for you, please know that we are thinking of you!

Sounds like you experienced not so great bedside manner, but perhaps he's a very gifted surgeon and if you need surgery, as long as he does that well, it will be worth it.

Maybe his mind was just going a million miles an hour trying to figure your case out and in general he's much better with his patients. I hope so. You seem to have left with many unanswered questions. Do feel free to follow up with a call to his office to get those questions answered! He works for you, not the other way, remember.

Do keep us posted. We do care!

Another Doctors Appointment!

Hey! I did try the medicine and it didn't phase me one bit. I was sure hoping it was going to and I kept waiting but never got a thing from it. Anyhow, I did go to my CT Scan this morning and they are going to get the results back tomorrow. She said to call back then to find out or they will call me.

So, again it is a hurry up and wait game. I am a little better than I was yesterday and I do plan on getting more answers tomorrow when I talk to the doc or nurse, when I get my CT Scan results back. I am going to request that he clears things up for me a little bit more!

Thanks again

hi

Hi Keri,
What were the results of your CT scan? I wonder, because I have the same thing going on that you do. I had a CT scan, along with an IVP scan and nothing showed up. The 6th dr I went to thinks that he is feeling scar tissue and that is what is causing the pain. I have found that if I stay away from tight pants, it is not too bad. But just don't "lean" into anything!!!! And this is almost two years post op!!! So I am very curious if anything showed up on your scan.

HEY! Here is the link to my whole story and where I am at, at this point. It will also tell you the results of the ct scan in here! Tell me what you think!

Have they not offered to do a lap on you for your pain?

Keri
