one year since my diagnosis

Here it is, today, one whole year since I was first diagnosed. Although my mass turned out to be "only" pre-cancerous and not full blow cancer, I can still hear the surgeon's words just as clearly today in my head as i did 365 days ago. His words "We found a mass..." still echo in my heart.

I can't believe a whole year has already past. I can't believe how lucky? blessed? I am compared to so many others here, but the memory of that simple statement still fills me with horror.

Last year, I was dealing with pain and fear.

Today I had a fitness assessment at work and found out that I am doing pretty well!

The Lord is good.

I pray his blessings on everyone who must post in this forum.

God bless us all, and my hystersisters especially.

Marta

Congratulations!

Pre-cancerous is pretty frightening. I'm glad they got it at that stage. Are you doing something special to acknowledge the anniversary?

one year since my diagnosis

Interestingly enough, I just happend to have scheduled a health assesment at work for today. (The health department I work in is part of a health initiative pilate program). My overall health is amazingly good--especially compared to where I was a year ago at this time! My only real problem is that I need to increase my flexibility. I almost feel that I'm being compensated somehow for having to go through all the lousy health issues last year. Now if I can just stay out of the cookie jar!

Thanks for your best wishes. June 10th marks the anniversary of the surgery, I can't believe it's been almost a year!

God bless.

Marta.

P.S. whoops! I forgot I already mentioned the health assessment. Sorry.

Hi Marta,

Thanks for your update and letting us share in your happiness. Any words (a "mass was found") which even hint of cancer are frightening and I am so glad your's was a false alarm. Also great to hear that your health assessment went well too, it's time for you to celebrate and hope you have something special planned.

Hi Marta,

Congratulations on your "first" anniversary. Yes, doesn't time go fast.

I don't think anyone can ever forget their Cancer or Pre-Cancer diagnosis, when they hear those words. I was the same as you, being diagnosed with pre-cancer and yes, we were so very, very fortunate that it was no worse. I also, will never forget my gyn's words "we're looking for cancer". Even typing the words here makes my stomach turn.

I'm so glad to hear that all is well for you, keep up the good work.

Best wishes to you.

Marta-
I happened apon your post this morning, and I was amazed at the similarities- You were first diagnosed on the 25, and for me it was one year ago today, and that is exactly the same words my surgeon used- We found a huge mass. You were operated on the 10th of June, and so was I. Cancer was not suspected in my case, however the mass was indeed cancer, and the next few weeks were very stressful, waiting for the lymph node sampling to come back from pathology. But that is history now. And like you I am doing fairly well, and enjoying the freedoms and life lessons I have learned from the hyst-
Congrats to you on feeling good, and I'm sending you hugs.

I had my surgery exactly one year ago today (ovca stage 2c -Grapefruit size tumor). It seems like such a long time ago, because I feel GREAT!

Snickers and Maxier,

I'm so glad you two are doing well! Boy, what an adventure we have been on! I've always said that Life is and Adventure. (Although I still prefer visiting the Grand Canyon the next time I want an adventure.)

Hope the future is even brighter and that both of you continue to have better health.

I just finished strenght training, but it has taken me awhile to get my stamina back. I've discovered that my body's not as flexible as it was in college, but I suspect that's just an age thing!

God bless!

Marta
