Just got out of the hospital....

Its long I know... I apologize in advance if its confusing... Im light headed

I was supposed to have my hyst this coming week. Wednesday I started bleeding (I had laproscopic surgery 3wks ago.) I could barely get out of bed. As a matter of fact I was lurking on this site the whole day. At about 3 I made my way downstairs to get my kids off the bus and passed out. My husband called my dr and she had me come in to her office.

When I walked in the door my dr brought me into a room immediately. She did a bit of poking and proding to my eyes and skin and then called in my husband. She asked me to get undressed and get on the table. When I did this (*graphic*) I bled all over myself. She told me forget it and got on the phone with the hospital at the same time she was taking my pulse. She seemed paniced which paniced me. She informed us that an ambulance would be coming to take me to the hospital.

I was admitted immediately and was hooked up to a heart monitor and IV. My blood pressure was 160/110. and my heart rated was 118. Apparently I had lost so much blood my body went into shock. I also have cardiac arythmia (PVC's)

They also drew blood to check my blood levels. I was at 31 and this is where I REALLY got scared. My dr informed me that the IV fluids were going to bring my levels down even more and at 28 is when they give blood tranfussions. I have never been so scared. My blood was taken every hour throughtout the night and FINALLY my uncle showed up (he's my family dr.) He told her to wait until the next blood was drawn and read before he started the transfussion. LUCKILY she agreed and at 3am I was 29, not much over but better.

I had an EKG and my blood levels and heart was monitored for my 2 day stay. They allowed me to come home today THANK GOD! Unfortunately I cant have my surgery for atleast 2wks. I need to be seen by a cardiologist (I was seen in the hospital but was sent home with a monitor to wear) I have to go back on Tuesday to the hospital to have my levels checked again Even without the heart problems I cant have the surgery because of the amount of blood loss

Im so weak, tired, and have a terrible headache (dr said its from blood loss) I know this was a bunch of mumble but I wanted to vent and so I did. If parts make no sense just ask and I'll try to slow down and explain.

Sorry but thanks for reading!

Just got out of the hospital....

My husband is here with me. He is so good, but sometimes too good. He is taking the complete bed rest orders a bit too far. For example, when I have to go pee he wont let me get up without to him, if it was up to him he would carry me to the toilet He is truly my hero

My neighbor has also been absolutely wonderful. She came and stayed with me in the hospital while her 3 kids were in school. And today she brought over a lasagna for the family. She also has had my kids all day.

I have 2 children 11 & 6. My 6yr old son is petrified of me right now which bothers me. He wouldnt even come near me in the hospital. He looked so angry and started crying demanding my husband take the needles out of my arm and the plugs (the heart monitors) off my body. I wish he never had to see my like that. I was so selfish and wanted to see them so bad I didnt think of the affects it would have on him.

I've been sleeping most of the day. My doctor called to inform me that a visiting nurse would be stopping by to take my vitals and draw blood. She rather be safe than sorry.

Unfortunately because of the issues with my heart she cant give me (pregesterone? I dont remember the exact name but its a hormone that stops the bleeding) apparently it could cause a stroke (slim chance but one she doesnt want to take.) The bleeding slowed down last night but picked back up today

I appreciate this site and all the hugs and concern. In times like these its great to have a place to just vent.

Have a wonderful weekend ladies otion:

Just got out of the hospital....

just a calming note--PVC's are generally benign in the absence of heart disease. The PVC's that you experienced could have easily been caused by the blood loss and/or the stress of the whole event.Tobacco, caffeine, and alcohol can also PCV's. There is a very high percentage of people who are living normal lives who have PVC's,(some people have PVC's and dont even know it), so I wouldnt get too worked up over this diagnosis until theres reason to.
Stay well

Hi, I am so sorry to hear your're going through this. I have PVC's too. I found out a few years ago. After taking a stress test, wearing the holter monitor everything turned out to be ok. Later, I started realizing that when I would get them was a week before my period. I told my doctor that I was seeing at the time and he wanted to talk to a gyn about it for some reason. I never had noticed them until one year when they put me back on birth control to shrink an ovarian cyst. After that I started getting them. I don't know the connection there, but that was when they started. I was also going through a lot of stress at the time too. The night I wore my holter monitor I had them over 500 times and the next day I started my period. The doctors said something about the rush of hormones and blood flow connected with my heart pumping harder. Anyway, sometimes I don't have them and sometimes I do. When they get really bad and I lay there and feel them all night, my family doctor will listen to them to make sure they are sounding the same, so far so good. They are annoying though. The last time he listened he gave me ativan for rest and the next day they stopped and I didn't get it filled and it is probably too old now. Sometimes decongestants will start them up too. I looked them up and like Diana said most of them are harmless. Good Luck to you!!

I also researched and found the same info. I guess the reason I worry so much is because both sets of my grandparents and also my father passed away at a young age from a heart attack. Im sure its benign but with the family history I obviously panic. Not to mention my girlfriend just had a heart attack at 33. Im sure its all in my head but I lay in bed and try to stay awake afriad Im gonna die in my sleep... Crazy I know.

Some good news is that my neighbor arranged a little get together tonight with some friends to watch the Yanks & Sox and play a few games. Its great having such wonderful people surrounding you I was a little upset that we had to cancel our annual cookout so to make it a bit less depressing she went out and organized a nice work free night with some friends

Thanks for the information ladies... I appreciate it
