don,t wont to lose my cervix :help:

Hi I,m due to see my consultant on 11th june regarding a hysterectomy, due to a prolapsed cervix, very, very ,very heavy & painful ( you know what its like) periods and endo.
I would like to keep my cervix but as its prolapsed I don,t know if will be possible .I would very much like to keep it due to extra pelvic support and i,m worried it might make a difference to sex.
Can anyone tell me if losing the cervix makes much of a difference ?I would really appreciate any advice .

I was very worried before my hyster about the effects of taking the cervix. It was my decision and I chose to have it removed and am happy to report I still have the "O" with no troubles. It is somewhat different, but not that much. I am thrilled after all I have been through that I still can and have lubrication. My doctor told me there is no real evidence to confirm support issues for the bladder and sexual disfunction. It is the old faithful," It depends on the individual and their situation" hang in there and don't stress it, give yourself time to heal afterward and ease back into realations and you will do just fine. Read my history, if I can do it anyone can!

Dear britannia:

Since one of the reasons for your hyst is prolapsed cervix, it may already be failing you in providing pelvic support, and keeping the cervix may not be a viable option for you. Perhaps a 2nd or 3rd medical opinion (or a consult with a uro-gynecologist) would be helpful for you to sort out your options.

I hope you are able to find the right answers soon. I am sending huge cyberhugs

Cervix

Hi there - the removal of my cervix made no difference in my pelvic support and my husband hasn't noticed any change. I was concerned like you - but it all is working out. Good luck to you! hugs hugs
