Gotta date! a little scared

Hello to all the sisters. I have waited for this date for months now, and its set at 7-1...Suddenly I feel there's not enough time to prepare, or to get the family ready. I have been in chronic discomfort and pain for so long, it will be GREAT to hike and boat again. First things first. I feel big enough to be 4 months. I will have tvh-ovaries stay, plus ant+post repair. A broke summerh well. Tru

Gotta date! a little scared

Well, I am post op 10 weeks today, and feeling great! have been for some time now. I also had a lot of anxiety prior to the op date, I am a 22 year old single mother, so anxiety is hardly a fair descriptor! I am up in Canada so it may go a little differently here, but not a lot of my questions were asnwered until my pre-op appt 1 wk before. I went overboard with my planning, had meals prepared and planned for the next 2 weeks for my daughter with pages of instructions for my friend, scared senseless only to find out that I would be released from the hospital the day after surgery! I did end up staying 1 extra night due to a pre-existing heart problem, but was back with my little girl in no time! all the pain before the surgery was far worse than anything I experienced after right down to when i woke up in recovery, i actually told them not to give me any more morphene because it was making me too tired to do anything! So while I understand the urge to panic, through it all, if I had to go back and decide again whether to do it, I would say yes in a heart beat!

Gotta date! a little scared

Hi Trudream,
Most of us feel as if we have to get everything perfect for our families before the surgery date, but believe me, if you don't get it all done, they will survive. Just make a list of the things you want to accomplish and put it in priority first order. Get what you can done without stressing out over it and if you don't get the list finished it will be okay. I didn't finish my list and my family did just fine without the house being just perfect.

Just say to yourself...this is the last few weeks of discomfort and pain and no more Aunt Flow! Having this surgery is one of the best things I have ever done and I wish I had done it years sooner. Hopefully your recover and experience will be as good as mine has been, and you will feel the same as I do about your surgery. Goodluck!

Thanks Keeper

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. I do worry, but its time for my flock to show their mettle.. I also stayed home with them for many years, as you are doing. It is a noble job with many payoffs coming later, like seeing my oldest graduate with honors from art school this past month. However I am also a realist, and I have three teens, developmentally egotists. Tough for them-have they been listening? I hope so. They may live to rue it, if they have not been listening. Cause I can get UGLY, when I feel slighted. Cars will be very hard to borrow if dinner isnt done. That's life. Let them grow. I 'm sure I will also be glad I had the operation_Ive had so much pain.
