Do I hear an echo?

Hey girls..
I have a "Rose Nyland" question (golden girls in case you are wondering who rose nyland is..haha)

I had a TAH on 5/9/05 and I have nothing, no tubes, overies, cervix, uterus. what does the penis feel? Is it saying in an echo voice: "Hello out there, there, there....I just want to know is there something that is keeping my other organs from falling into the Grand Canyon....

Do I hear an echo?

They sew the top of the vagina closed (the cuff). Otherwise your intestines might fall out!! ( Doc just said it's possible!!)

Do I hear an echo?

Thank you for the laugh!

I'm a year post-op. My DH says he can't tell the difference.

Your other internal organs move around to fill in the empty space. Also, remember that the empty space isn't THAT huge... a "normal" uterus is about the size of your fist or a pear, and ovaries are about the size of almonds. Your bladder probably is more comfortable now - I went from every 20 minutes to sometimes as much as 2 hours between trips to the potty now...which makes road trips much nicer. And, those zingers you have during recovery are things like the bowels shifting in to take up the empty space.

As for things "falling"... my surgeon said that he attached the end of my vagina to the ligaments that used to support the uterus. He told me that is why he stresses avoiding constipation, he doesn't want his patients to bear down during a BM - letting that area heal helps avoid future prolapse.

Hope that helps your inquiring mind.

Do I hear an echo?

I have *nothing* either...I ask him did it feel any different for him and he said it actually felt better to him. So, I'm going with that and leave it alone. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is my motto!
