vomiting blood???? NOW what?

I just saw this thread for the first time. I hope everything is okay. I had very similar symptoms starting last summer that lasted about 8 months. I never vomited blood though. That would be scary. I had all the other symptoms though. The doctor never figured it out.

I hope by now you have answers. Let us know

vomiting blood???? NOW what?

It's me.....

I didn't post last night as I didn't get home from the doc till 5 pm and then was feeling sorry for myself and went to my favorite drinking establishment.

Well there's good news and there is bad news.....I did find out that the reason I'm barfing so bad is that I appear to have major gallstones and my gallbladder is as huge as I saw!!! Apparently the bile is eating up my insides and thus causing the bleeding. So that's the good news. lol

I am also to be scheduled for an Internal pelvic ultrasound to see if the left ovary is back yet again. I had my yearly pelvic exam and nearly went thru the roof when she did an internal. She said I shouldn't be hurting that bad at all. Then said it may be why we keep having to increase my HRT. She put me up to Estradiol 2mg instead of one. I know sounds crazy if there is an ovary there but that's what happened last time.....when the ovary came back with cysts my hrt seemed to stop working as is the case now....although with 100 degree heat index now it's hard to tell whats a hot flash and whats not!!!

My blood work wasn't back for the RA test yet to confirm but she did say she was 95% positive I had it, she just wanted to make sure. I'm to be refered to a surgen and have surgery as soon as it can be scheduled. We were talking about the gallbladder coming out thru a lap but then when she remembered my hernia repair she said that would be impossible as it would undo the repair. SOOOOOO......another belly surgery for me.

Which I'm sure will mean fighting adhesions, a little exploration to see what else is going on, and all the healing that goes with it. Those of you that have known me for a long time know I don't do well with sugery... ( I'm out of smiles so here's another bigcry!) I just started going back to school and I hate the thought of all the complications I've had in the past. I'm cringing just thinking about it. DH is a mess again....he's stressing and worried due to the past history and I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard.

So, that's the news for now. Oh...and I'm to have my first mammogram. Doc was upset when she heard I hadn't had one yet and I'm 43...We talked about Hystersisters and I bragged on all of you and she said she was glad I had the support ya'll offer.

to all for the kind words and support

vomiting blood???? NOW what?

Booze combined with gall baldder problems= Puking blood!!! (You mentioned you went drinking after the Dr appt)

Don't mess around with this combo as I had a friend who DIED from internal bleeding all complicated with gallbladder/gallstone problems that they ignored.

This is serious stuff and don't act so " blah" about it all.

vomiting blood???? NOW what?

Dawn,
I know how you felt when you said you went to as they say"drown your sorrows!!" because if I was in the same predicament, I would probably have done the same thing , but, unfortunately, I have major problems now when I drink even beer, but, that might have been when I was taking a medication for my stomach or G. e. r. d.
Glad you are able to find support on this site, even though I cannot give you any advice on your problem.. Just All the best to you,Reeni

vomiting blood???? NOW what?

((((Dawn))))) I'm so sorry you're dealing with so many issues all at once

Please, do be careful: mixing gall bladder problems and alcohol could be very dangerous. I know that you're upset and are trying to cope with all this, but do be careful not to aggravate the matters

Hopefully your doctors will work very hard at avoiding some of the issues you've been known to deal with after surgery.

Do take care

vomiting blood???? NOW what?

Dawn -

Sending you lot's of gentle s - and I hope you are feeling better soon. I just read through the posts and wanted to let you know I was thinking of you. I had my Gallbladder removed lapriscopically 5 years ago. It's a whole different ballgame from our other surgeries that we've all been through - a whole different kind of pain (Different muscles! You don't realize just how much you use them until you don't want to!!!! ). Just take it easy, and you'll do great. My advice would be - if you have a recliner at home, sleep in it!!! At least the first night or two. It is extreemly hard to get up and down from a horizontal position after this surgery.

As far as your ORS - I know you can't see it, but I just gave a great big SIGH for you. I'll never understand why they think they can just grow back any time they want!??! lol

But first things first - you need to get through your Gallbladder surgery, and then move on to that pesky ovary. Get as much help as you can for the wedding....ask family members and girlfriends to help. Now's not the time to be modest. Even if it means sitting at a table and supervising!!!

As far as the - I don't know that it's such a good idea! Coffee was my biggest trigger for setting off my gallbladder attacks. So I can only imagine what alcohol will do! AND I WASN'T BLEEDING!!! Please Please Please listen to the other sisters....if you start to vomit blood again - high tail it to the nearest ER. Because while you may now think it's just part of your gallbladder issues - in all reality, you could be dealing with something much worse! You NEVER know!!! Your esophagus can be torn, your stomach could be damaged, you could have a stone that is lodged in your bile duct....(are you worried yet??? at least worried enough to go to the ER???)

Take care of yourself! We are all thinking about you!
