Do you reduce estrogen dose when adding progesterone cream????

Hi Ladies,

Does anyone know if you are supposed to reduce your estrogen dosage when adding progesterone cream? In the past (last year) I developed daily headaches and nausea when I started prog. cream. I wanted to see if the prog. cream would help with my hair loss problem, but after only 2 weeks had to stop because of the side effects. I seem to recall reading in Dr. Lee's book that you should reduce your estrogen dose in order to prevent estrogen dominance. At that time I was on the vivelle dot 0.05mg and DID NOT reduce the dose. Is that why I had the headaches and nausea? I would like to give prog. cream another try, but I am a little scared.

I am still on the vivelle dot. Should I cut it in half, or maybe just cut a quarter of it off??? Has anyone had a similar situation or have any insight?

Also, do most women in surgical menopause use prog. cream continuously throughout the month or stop it for 7 days?

Thanks,

needy

Do you reduce estrogen dose when adding progesterone cream????

I am on the vivelle dot .1mg patch and I have not reduced mine since starting the progesterone cream. I have not had any problems or side effects from it. I do believe it has helped with my hair loss problem. Good luck to you!

Sandiec,

Thanks for replying. How long before you noticed an improvement with the number of hairs you were losing? Do you take your progesterone cream continously?
