Upper abdomen pain...

Hi all,

You know, the incision seems to be the least of my worries. It is pretty good considering. I have a swelly belly. It is starting to bruise. It is really sore on the left side above the incision, and it feels like they left something in there as a door prize. I'm pretty sure they didn't, but it feels like it.

I had the worst diarrhea yesterday, about 8 times before noon. I am attributing it to the colace. My dr. said to stop with the colace and start eating more fiber, etc. I called the clinic again, because the stomach cramps were so bad, all day long. I got a very unhelpful, uncaring nurse that felt I shoud have had all of my questions answered the first time I called. I felt like I was bothering her. I do sit around all day trying to think of how to bother people at work with my petty problems.

I ate a pretty bland dinner last night, chicken and bread and applesauce. I had stomach cramps right after eating and had another BM. I did sleep pretty well last night.

I felt pretty good this morning, but I ate a piece of banana bread and apple sauce and my stomach did it's cramping again. It feels like it's vibrating deep in my bowels, too. I haven't had a bad BM this morning, and I hope I don't, but I am curious if anyone else has had this happen after their surgery.

I realize I had major surgery four days ago, I just wasn't expecting my bowels to rebel. Oh yeah, mine was an abdominal hyst. keeping ovaries and cervix.

Hi BuggaBean,

I am right there with you. I am praying it all gets back to normal soon.......it sure hurts.
I even went back on the pain meds hoping to reverse all of it.
Take care,

Upper abdomen pain...

I'm had my TAH/BSO on June 7th. I've only had a BM twice since then. Both times I took a laxative. I've been taking the Colace from the very beginning and have eaten very little. Well, when that laxative kicks in, I feel like I'm going to die! My stomache hurts sooo bad, not to mention the cramps. I never had BM problems before, so I guess it's from the pain meds. Going to try taking Metamucil and see how that goes.

Happy healing all!
