Brain not working right

I have noticed that my mental function is increasingly worse since my surgery in December. I'm starting to get scared. I'm a medical transcriptionist and I am making so many errors when I am typing. I can't get the brain and the fingers to coordinate anymore. It's terrible. Any reason known for this or is it just me?

I am right there with you! I am in Whiteville, NC and 4 weeks post-op. I had a total hyst. Everything is gone.

You aren't giving me much hope. I am fighting beginning HRT...are you taking hormone therapy? If so, please let me know.

I'm not much help...but you DEFINITELY have my support!

Sending my remaining intact brainwaves...

Karen:

Yes, I am on hormone replacement. God knows how dim witted I'd be without it! lol If your doing okay 4 weeks out without it, that's great. I just had my estrogen increased to 0.1 from 0.05 and I'm using the vivelle dot patch. It has helped my hot flashes tremendously, and my mood, but I'm still not doing so well in the brain department.

Hi girls
I found what helped my mind was added progestrone. It has done wonders for me. We also added a little testosterone.

Monica:

How long does it take to help? I started natural progesterone yesterday. Are you using natural or something else?

My mental function is also gone!! I am 14 weeks from my total hysterectomy. I am on Vivelle dot 0.075. I NEVER thought I could feel so lost in myself! I did make an appointment for Monday to see if progesterone is a possibility. Hopefully I remember to go LOL!!!

Brain not working right

My mental functions (mostly memory) were gone BEFORE my hysterectomy. I've been to a neurologist about it.....but now am stuck because I just had the surgery and it would be senseless to try to figure out why my memory is gone.......especially now that i am in surgical menopause!

I keep a journey and if i let a few days go without writing in it. I can hang it up, cause by then I don't remember how i felt that day or what i did. I have to ask the hubby, lol This is all something else let me tell you. I guess that's Womanhood for us.

Carol I am on a prescription progestrone and it only took a few days and I could tell a difference. I and it seems to improve the more it builds up in my system.
I am also on compound estrogens (Tri-est) and I think that helped me a lot, the patch did not work for me.
Good luck.

Same problems!

It's not just you but you need to find out what's going on. There are so many things that could be causing it,
I'm having the same problems and am on a Prescription Progesterone because my compounding Doctor says Bioidentical just won't be enough to lower my high estrogen right now. It was 585! and I was having vulvar burning pain and itching--just felt inflamed and a couple of yeats infections.Even when they cleared it felt like I had one but none of the meds for yeast worked. The Norethindrone(progesterone) did.
But it sure hasn't helped my memory. I'm also in the process of a neurological workup and trying to find the right dose of Thyroid medication!
Please at least get your thyroid checked and visit the website for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
I'm also on Valium for urinary retention and between all these things and the syress I'm ready to reach for the antidepressant--anything.
Only problem there is the further side effects especially the risk of increasing the Urinary retention.
I'm trying to wait it out a little more and making lots of lists but I do address it with my Doctors and also just told my Boss,I had to cut back again to 4 Nights a week instead of 5. Of cousre I have to have a Doctor's note. I am a Nurse after all and it's very important to me to be able to think clearly! So far I seem to be able to function at work but I consult with my coworkers more than ever before and I just don't seem to be able to go the extra mile or do the extras like I usualy can and want to do.
Actually,it was better for a couple of weeks ,when my Thyroid was briefly better!!
I hope you feel better soon but get some more help--I'd suggest a recheck of female hormones including Testosterone and thyroid, too.
I think my biggest problem is I don't complain loudly and vehemently enough!!!
Take care ,
Sharon
