question for ladies who have had rectocele repair

i have a question for those who have had rectocele repair. I have no problem having bm's, just that bulge in the vagina when i need to go. ( i also have leg pain which may be another issue, not sure if its connected to the rectocele problem or not). Would you have a rectocele repaired if it was uncomfortable but not unbearable. How do you know WHEN or IF to have it fixed? thanks in advance.

question for ladies who have had rectocele repair

Hello ladies
I had a large rectocele and enterocele repaired Jan 25th. I had lots of discomfort. I had to push the bulge in my vagina everytime I felt the need to have a bm. The straining made my rectocele larger and larger. I also thought it was causing the constipation, but I am still having that issue. I still have to splint at times, although a pelvic floor specialist said the repair looks good.I am continuing to follow up with a colon rectal dr. I am on quite a regeim to try to help the bm issues.
I had discomfort with intercourse with my DH before my surgery and that remains a problem. I now have mixed feelings as to if the surgery was really worth it. I also now have a small cystocele and stress incontinence. I seemed to get rid of some of the discomforts since surgery, but at the same time I have new discomforts. I am not sure if they are related or not to pelvic floor weaknesses. The practioner at the colon rectal office said pelvic surgeries can change the pelvic floor. I am guessing we are prone to more prolapses.
The surgewry is really only something you can decide on. Some ladies have great outcomes and others like me seem to encounter more and more problems. Good luck on whatever you decide.

question for ladies who have had rectocele repair

I to have a recotele and like you was worried to have the repair or not i also don't have any problems with bo in fact its gone the other way my gyny did warn me this could happen ,its so embarrasing i daren't leave the house unless i've been as once i need to go it just goes!.not to fussed if i've made it to the bathroom or not you can imagine!!!
The bulge in my vagina is getting bigger and is so sore my doctor said its because all my tissues have dropped & stretched (just discovered that means dragging in doctor talk)and i need the repair so i have made my decision i will take my chance and have it fixed because i dont think i can stand the thought of it getting any bigger i feel like i'm inside out !
So now i must sit and wait on the waiting list for a space for me to get this awful thing fixed it can't be worse than i feel now i want my life back i'm fed up by being ruled by my bum!

question for ladies who have had rectocele repair

I had a Stage III Rectocele repaired at the same time as my hyst. In my case, the rectocele was the last straw to help me make the decision to have the surgery: enough was enough and my body was, literally, falling appart.

It's hard to know when enough is enough: you're the only one who knows just how much this is affecting your health and your quality of life. Your doctor can also help you to make this decision by giving you advice and informing you about your options.

It's true that a prolapse can get worse as time goes by. You can try and avoid this by avoiding straining, by not lifting anything over 10 lbs or so and by keeping your bowels as loose as possible (in order to avoid unnecessary straining). At this stage of the game, doing Kegles may be too late: not only is it too late to reverse the damage, it could also make matters worse and cause pain.

There may be alternatives to surgery, either permanent and temporary. Here's a link to our Prolapses Resources Library where you'll find links to website specialising in this area.

Lots of s are going your way. I wish you the best of luck in your quest for answers.

question for ladies who have had rectocele repair

thanks so much to all who replied. the problem is....i cant be sure that what i'm feeling is the rectocele. i do know i had it for years before my hyster and it didnt bother me then. (doc said mild and doesnt need surgical repair)...i do have the bulge..BUT..i also have worse pain when sitting and burning leg pain which is sometimes an indication of pudendal nerve issues......they can have the same symptoms as i could have the surgery and be no better if that is the real issue........and the docs will not be able to know what the problem is either...the gyno has already said she never heard of hysters causing leg pain which makes me think its the pudendal i could have surgery and still have the same symptoms ....pudenal nerve probs cause the same exact symptoms as rectoceles.....i was doing better before i took a job that required me to sit all day.........sigh...thanks again...God bless
