thought I asked all the questions that could be asked, but what is a cuff?

Okay, I've been reading other posts and have a question about a term, what is a cuff? I am 3 weeks post TVAH and still bleeding, bright red blood. After reading other women's questions I'm curious about " cuff healing " what is that? Maybe that is what is still bleeding for me, doc hasn't done an internal, says if I'm still bleeding in a few weeks he'll have a look see to see if I still have a bleeder in there. I'm thinking what? did he do everything correctly or should I get a second opinion. Now I'm crying, whats going on, I've been in menopause for over a year so having everything removed shouldn't send me off the deep end. I 'm thinking 3 weeks and I want my life back but I still feel like a wreck. By the way, thanks to the kind person who sent a note my way on my last post. Am I supposed to link my questions together or just post comments?

The "cuff" is the place at the top of the vagina where they sew it back together (where the cervix used to be. I'm 2 weeks post-TVH, and still have some spotting, mostly brownish rather than bright red though. If your doc didn't sufficiently answer your questions, call back to be checked, ask at what point (ie how much bleeding) should you be concerned---request specific answers. Take care of yourself and always stand up for yourself and your health. Best wishes!

The Cuff

Is where they sew you up inside after they take the uterus out. You may have one thats slow to heal so you may need silver nitrate to chemically carterize it. Thats probably what they dr meant by bleeder. My dr told me that if you go through 1 pad hour then its something to worry about. But if i were you i would check with your dr and see what his parameters are for too much bleeding. Everyone heals at a different rate you may be just a slow healer. Let us know what the dr says. Take care of yourself and rest. You only have one chance to heal properly.

The cuff is at the top of the vagina, where they sew you up, after removal of the Uterus. Think of it as the cuff of a sock, sewn shut. Thats the way my doc described it to me.
About the bleeding, call you doc, and ask, put yourself at ease, if its nothing then you have just set your mind at ease, and if he wants to see you, then you havent wasted any time getting help.
