Posterior repair probs

Posterior repair ( rectocele- not sure about spelling) Problem???
I have had TAH and posterior and anterior repair.. nearly 2 weeks post op' now.

The stitches in my perineum dont look good - theres a gaping hole in the middle of the stiching ... my abdominal stiches seem to be doing well - no holes - all bonded together well ! but am really concerned about others.... anyone else had problems with this?

I had similar due to bad stichwork of surgeon at childbirth 13 yrs ago I just remember the nurse being horrified when I showed her - but rididculously cant remember how it was resolved!!! and since then had a procedure called Fentons procedure which went ok...

Feeling freaked out - will they have to re- sew???? can they glue it?? or will it stick itself...
sorry to be so personal ... please post if you've had this yourself...

Posterior repair probs

I really feel for you. I too am having problems with my posterior repair. See 'rectocele'. It is so discouraging when things don't heal as planned.

Could they possibly cauterize it. I know it doesn't sound pleasant but I had a problem with stitches not coming together after tearing in childbirth and the doctor cauterized it in the office. It wasn't all that bad and it healed up nicely.

Thanks for replying Eager. From the other thread it sounds like you are really going through a tough time - I hope that the new op will be successful. Maybe a second opinion would be best for you??

I am very concerned about my stiches as I have a condition called lichen sclerosis which means the skins gets really thin down there... and Im sure it s not gonna cope with to much messing about... stiches etc
also I am REALLY sesnsitive to pain but cant feel anything down below - a bit of a concern as Im only 2 weeks post op.. ... I suppose its possible that its all still very numb??

Thanks JooB. I really feel good about having this second operation. The surgeon I have is supposed to be the best in our area. I think he is going to be very careful to do it right this time.
