which HRT do I choose? what has worked for you?

Here is my confusion...

I have been reading this site and trying to figure out where to start...

I was started on the progesterone a week after surgery to burn off extra endo to ward off other surgeries and was on it for 6 weeks (untill i starting crawling up the walls )

So now i am on the Climara patch which doesnt like me...it wont stick for the life of me, i have tried everything, so now my Doc has called in a vaginal ring...has anyone used this and is it a good form of HRT?

i have been trying to figure out other methods and would like to know what has worked for others and maybe what hasnt so i will be ready for my apt next week, and hopefully answer some questions...

THANK YOU!

had the ring. You need to twist it to insert?
Is the prescription monthly?

I think it was reponsible for the cyst that started to grow inside my left ovary.
I had to have it abdominally removed 3 weeks ago.
because you have nothing left, it would probably be great. I never felt the thing. and it is great for sex

Jabs,
I had the same problem with Climara. It stuck for the first few weeks post op and than no matter what I did I couldn't keep it stuck. If the patch is not sticking you are not getting the full benefit of the hormones.

If you like the idea of a patch, I have heard good things about the Vivelle Dot. The patch is much smaller and is changed 2x per week. It seems to have a much better adhesion success rate.

Hey all!

Cass ...I havent picked it up from the pharmacy yet, so i am not sure of the instructions or if it is a monthly thing.... but i do think that would be nice to not even think about it...did you have to use other hormones to balance yourself while you had the ring in place???? good to hear it wont interfere with sex, that was a concern...

Kim..if it doesnt work or if i dont like it i may try the vivelle dot, i did look into that website this afternoon...
just want to make sure i am making the best choice, and one that wont conflict with anything else.

Kim i also love the pic!!! i was going to ask you the same question that snickers asked...

Thank you allll for your input and I would love more if anyone has suggestions for other products!

To answer your question, yes, I did take prometrium. And it is important to remember to change the o ring after a month or 3 months depending on the prescription.
It works almost immediately.
I was so dry, it felt like sandpaper when I urinated. Can you imagine trying to have sex? Nah, don't try.
The doctor's office called the day after I had inserted it, and asked if I could tell.
I was so excited I told her I might change my name to "Juicy Lucy"
Sorry, she laughed , I laughed and had really fantasic intimate relations with DH for months. Unfortunately, a cyst growing inside of my ovary loved it too and grew and grew.
I will not hesitate to ask for it again if it is too uncomfortable when I resume sex again.

which HRT do I choose? what has worked for you?

I have been using the Femring 0.1 for almost a week now. At first I wasn't sure about it and was considering not using it(always worrying that it might come out) but now I am starting to really like it! I guess I am getting more confident in it. It is still too early to tell if it is working but I seem to be moving in the right direction as far as symptoms go. It is different from the vaginal ring that is used for vaginal dryness...this one is for primary estrogen replacement like the patches, pills... I definately can't feel it at all and I took it out for "intimate time" with DH. My Dr. said I can take it out for up to 2 hours, rinse it off with warm water and put it back in. Hope this helps!

That is what I was using also. The femring. My doctor told me it would not be necessary to remove it. she was right. I felt it the first few days, it was not uncomfortable but a little different sensation. After the first few days, I actually forgot it was there except that I felt lots of lubrication!!
