Vaginal Cuff pain

Hello, it has been a long time since I've posted here.
I was wondering if anyone else has cuff pain off and on long after a hyst? For me it happens every 3 months or so and feels as if it's raw inside. My doc checked me out and my cuff is healed so that's not it, he ran a blood test FSH and upped my estrodial to 1.5 mg once per day and I also use the creme Premarin 1/4 each evening to help with the dryness.
Any reply will be helpful.
Thanks and God bless!

Vaginal Cuff pain

Yes, I have had it for 4 years now. Had 2 adhesions surgery's, then an enterocele was found, and
finally repaired. That feeling of something stuffed in my vagina is gone, but guess what? I still have
the pretty much constant pain, especially a few minutes after I have a bowel movement in the mornings.
The only thing I can only contend that it is an adhesion from the cuff to the bowel, and I am tired of
going to the drs and having surgeries. I am just taking pain meds until I can find someone who can help
me. It is so frustating. Good luck to you. Sorry I couldn't be more postive. Stay in touch, let us know
how it is going. Good luck with the drs, they usually throw up their hands and don't want to deal with it. slt

I see that your surgery was the same time as mine.
I am looking at having more surgery for bladder prolapse again. According to the Dr. it's mild so we'll wait but the surgery will involve a prolene mesh sling.
Lately, I've been having some sharp upper Vaginal pain usually right after a bowel movement also. My Dr.told me that the vaginal cuff looks very well scarred over and healed and is tight so I'm hoping that is not the cause of my pain. I think that it's just the pressure of the bladder unfortunately,"heading South" again.

Vaginal Cuff pain

Finally someone who has the same pain after a bm, I've talked with several with similar symptoms, but not after a bm.
If I have no bm, I have virtually no pain, and that is rare. The looser or more of a bm, the more pain. I use
to live for a bm, because I can't stand to be constipated, but now I dread it, but at the same time I feel
bloated and uncomfortable. Also the toxins from the pain meds hang around in my system and make me
tired and feel bad. If I have a very good bm in the morning, after that I have the same pain when I urinate, I have had adhesions to my uretha in the past, so I am thinking that I just have adhesions again.
Do you have the pain first thing in the morning? Or is only after you have a bm? And does the pain
continue the rest of the day? Please stay in touch. slt

usually only after a bm. but once in a while when I'm sitting but if I shift postion it goes away. I try to not focus on all these issues because I'd like to have a life. I work a 40 hr.week. I have a family plus a grandchild that I like to spend time with and I want to feel well. good luck with what is going on. I may try to wait until I'm not working full time to have the next surgery, depends on me ,I guess.

Vaginal Cuff pain

SLT & Freckles...

I just read your posts...I too have had vaginal cuff pain...doc has removed granulation tissue so many times with silver nitrate, and 2 surgeries - he finally thinks the granulation tissue is healed, he has tested me for a fistula came back negative...now he is wondering if I have scar tissue at the top of the vaginal cuff.
I too have the pain you mention in the mornings...when my bladder is full, when I have the morning BM...if my bowels are more overactive that day because maybe I did not eat as well as I could have...I start feeling the pain. Hard to explain to someone that is not familiar with all of the post hyst feelings!
And if I do too much in a day...the nerve in your back that controls the front area starts with a very intense pain that radiates through the front and down my leg...

Vaginal Cuff pain

we have to be very careful to not strain. I wish I knew a way to strengthen that area. I'm 25 years older than you are. You have certainly had your struggles. Perhaps with exercise, walking, kegels, swimming... you could strengthen the cuff or the muscles in your abdomen and legs. If I am faithful to the bran every day,I have less problems, but bran is boring. I could consider it my exercise,my jaw certainly gets a workout!!

Vaginal Cuff pain

My hyst has been 4 years now, I am way past granulation. My pain I believe is coming from the back side
of the cuff on the inside. And my pain is worse when I my bowels are moving at their best, the more
they move, and the looser they are, the more pain I have all day. If I don't have a bm at all, I hardly have
any pain, and that is rare. I eat a lot of fiber. I only have constipation if I get off my schedule, or eat out. Which is a catch 22, I hate to be constipated, but when I go real good I'm in a lot of pain. When the dynamics change, that's when I have the pain. I've been doing kegels, for a long time, and excercise
hasn't helped at all. As a matter of fact sometimes it makes it worse, I work out in the pool. It's probably
adhesions on the cuff to the bowel, and a nerve is trapped in there somewhere. Thanks for the post,
it helps to validate this problem, the doctors make you think you are the only person in the world with
this problem. Thanks, slt

continued pain

Hi,
Been a long time posting, I see that I'm truly not alone in this area of " vaginal cuff pain". I continue to have this problem and it is quite annoying. I will once again speak to my gyn doc at the beginning of next year on this topic. I'm beginning to think it is caused from scar tissue, but my question will be " when does it go away" or "what treatment to help prevent this pain"?
I'll update you all as I know.
Happy holidays to each of you.

Vaginal Cuff pain

OMKG! A lightbulb just came on in my brain. Vaginal cuff is probably the area where I have sharp pains during a BM. A couple of inches below the belly button? I swear, sometimes it is so bad that I cry while having a bowel movement. The worst pain for me is before and during the bmk. Afterwards is dulls a little, but hangs around for several hours. Once I was driving and had to pull my car off the highway because I had such sharp pain there. While I am not positive, I am thinking now that the vaginal cuff area is where my pain is located. It hurts so bad sometimes that it scares me. Haven't been to the gyno to complain yet because I am just not in a hurry for more invasive testing and not ready to even consider another surgery after having multiple surgeries last year....
