I am so BORED

I guess I must be doing better because I am going absolutely stir crazy! I almost wish I could go back to work....but then again it can wait till September (I am a teacher's assisantant)! I had my hyster 6 weeks ago this coming monday and haven't seen my DH for any length of time since my first week of surgery (the time when I didn't want to see anyone!). He has been working alot, trying to do shift exchanges with guys at work so we can have an extended vacation. I know I will be fine once we leave but for right now I can't take much more..........I honestly think that I have been relaxing so much that I just can't find the motivation to do a hole lot and anything I think of doing seems so pointless......

Does anyone else feel like this? I feel great physically, just bored!

I am so BORED

I hear you!

I am tired of not being able to drive - doc said not until the 6 week mark and would not *budge* on that. Dh went to the mall the other day ot pick up some things - I aske dhim how it was doing, he said, "It asked about you! Williams-Sonoma was calling for you as I walked by!".

I AM, however, enjoying having the time and opportunity to read a lot of the books I have had lying around!

Plus, I know had I not been given restrictions, that I would have been up and around before I should have been. So - it's only temporary and a short time in the big picture - that's what I keep telling myself!

Off to strip off my jammies so I can go to bed and try to stay cool!!

I am so BORED

Ten days after surgery and I told my DH that I wish I felt good enough to actually enjoy my time off work. I am tired of not being able to walk without pain here or there. And still can't get in and out of bed without help. But I am doing much better than a week ago so I am trying hard to stay positive and look forward to each day doing something a little better than the day before. Today I didn't take any pain meds until this evening and I did walk about two and a half blocks. So things are coming along! I have become an ER addict, its on TNT for two hours everyday. It does kill some time, but look out for when they cut someone open, it makes my insision hurt (all in my head I know)! Good luck ladys if you find a good time buster let me know!

I understand what you're going thru also. I feel so bad watching DH have to clean, cook and do laundry everyday. He took the first week off work that I had surgery to keep an eye on me. And i'm going nuts....i'm now addicted to forensic files, investigative reports and HGTV.
I tried to load the dishwasher to help out..haha on that one, I paid for it later. I"m going to go to the store with him today for a little exercise and something to do, and I think I might get me a couple crossword puzzle books for entertainment. I know that it ***** being off work for 6 weeks and you can't do anything. But i'm sucking up all the laziness that I can, because after the 6 weeks, DH is going to put me to work.

If anyone finds anything else entertaining to do...let me know also!!

I am so BORED

This too will pass........

I became very bored and antsy between 3 and 6 weeks. I overdid a couple of times because I was so restless, which was not a good idea.

These things helped me a bit:

DH and I returned to our 'Front Porch Conferences' nearly every day. Even though the tropical heat and humidity had returned, we spent time on the porch, eating a snack, drinking something cool, and chatting. Several of my neighbors would stop by to chat....they would never have called or knocked on my door for fear of disturbing me, so it was wonderful to chat with them for a few minutes out front. We started experimenting with different types of bird seed and bird feeders....and so I started sitting on the porch in the mornings and at night, watching the birds and the squirrels. (Early on, I even sat out front in my robe!)

We had just gotten all of our garden beds cleaned out. So, while I sat on the front porch I started thinking about new annuals and perinneals to put in. I did some web surfing and had fun picking out new things to try. Hubby, daughter, and two neighborhood boys planted my selections.(ok, at weeks 6 and 7 I did plant a few things, silly me)

My oldest daughter is getting married next year. I created a 'favorites' folder in IE and have been web surfing, and bookmarking, locations for both DD and her fiance to consider.

I hand wrote tons of thank-you notes. Anyone who did anything nice during my recovery got a thank you note. I also composed a few long e-mails to friends I don't see often any more.

We put together a fun 'care package' for my daughter in Afghanistan. It took me two weeks to pull it all together, but it was fun! I had an assembly line set up on a table and would make lists for DH and my other DD to get for the package.

It took me a long time to settle down enough to read my books. I watched old movies. I also picked up some new magazines that I'd not been reading regularly, the new magazines distracted me very well.

I walked every day. I didn't keep track of how far I walked, I walked until my heart rate increased to a certain point, and then turned back. I took a different route every day, to keep things interesting.

Take care Ladies!

Ok, i'm 10 days post op and like I said..i'm goin nuts...my loving sister is coming to get me for a quick gaunt to walmart. There are a few sewing "to do's" that I figure I can get done while i'm laying down so i'm going to get them out of the way. Then i'm going to check into a few handheld games, and some crossword puzzles. Then i'm going to look for something special for DH for all the nice things he's been doing since i've been "laid-up"....look for the new star wars movies on DVD...Then one day this week we can do the "star wars marathon"...woo hoo.

If anyone thinks of anything else..let me know..
