How soon can I have a bath? I had my LAVH on thursday, came home on saturday. I like showers, but would love to have a bath! I forgot to ask my doctor.

how soon can I have a bath?

This is something you need to call your doctor about. Doctors have different opinions on this and even if other sisters were allowed to bathe after several days of a week, your doctor may want you to wait longer. It's important to follow your own doctor's directions.

Every doc is different

My gyne says no tub baths or anything vaginally for 6 weeks postop. Which is fine with me, because I shower anyway. It's too hard to get in and out of the tub in a sitting position with the arthritis.

how soon can I have a bath?

This is a dr question. I had a TAH and my dr cleared me at 4 weeks. I love my baths, too.

how soon can I have a bath?

I wasn't allowed tub baths for 2 weeks after my LAVH. But, as the others have indicated, it's best to ask your doctor since it seems each doctor out there is as different as we are.

Best wishes for an uneventful recovery!

how soon can I have a bath?

Hi jolian,
I had TAH on June 16 and went in for my four week appt. Doc told me it would be ok to start taking baths if I felt ok with it. I am so wanting to take a bath but with my open incision just healing I am waiting for my 6 week I don't want to take any chances. But I would most definetly talk to your Doc. Best Wishes and trust me I know where your at.

how soon can I have a bath?

I did asked my doctor today.
He said that, when my pats are dry, no liquid from the wound is coming out anymore, I am allowed to bath. Could be one to two weeks.
I will wait a few days longer when my pats are dry, but I am looking forward!
Thanks for your reply,

what the real concern is that a bath isn't exactly a sterile environment. I had a TAH on the 11th of July and I don't wish to have any bacteria enter the incision whatsoever. My doc said no arguement...6 weeks. Showering is much better and cleaner, just make sure incision site is dried carefully and completely. I use a bit of baby powder to keep dry. Moisture is a perfect bacteria environment.
All the best
