yeast infection

I'm 18 months post-op and I seem to be having recurrent yeast infections. I've never had them before and am basically symptom free. Just a little itching or irritation. My docotor confirmed the first infection. anyone else have these problems?

Recurrent yeast infection is a sign of diabetes. If your doctor is not aware that you keep having them, you should mention it to him/her.

Please talk to you dr. about this. Have you taken any antibiotics lately? I used to get a yeast infection from taking those as well, especially penacillan (sp?). Wishing you well, and hope you find out what is causing you to have this so often.

yeast infection

Hi daisy123

Are you certain that this is a yeast infection again?
There are other conditions that could cause itching, like Bacteroides Vaginalis (BV) or even some dryness can cause itching/irritation?

Recurrent yeast infections "can be" a sign of diabetes (but does not ALWAYS mean that!) You can get yeast infections when your hormones are out of balance (I recall getting yeast infections when I was pregnant!!) You can also get them if you have too much sugar in your bloodstream (that's why some think diabetes) - but if I overdo on the sugar (sweets, cookies, brownies), that sometimes makes the vaginal area more conducive to yeast infections!
(And yes..antibiotics will do the same. Antibiotics kill off the "good" bacteria in your vagina area, and allows the yeast (which is normally there in small amounts) to go crazy and take over)

Hope you can get these under control! Have you tried diflucan? (one, only one, pill orally)

yeast infection

Howdy- I am 2 weeks post tomorrow and I have been battling a nasty yeast infection since before I was released from the hospital... try to replace the good bacteria in your system to help balance out the yeast - Acidophilus (sp?) is great for helping as it yogurt - they have been great for me...

I just finished my 2nd yeast medication yesterday and will wait a couple of more days to see if it is finished or not (it was a pill you take 3 days apart)...

My mouth is where this yeast infection has been the most noticable - mouth ulcers and such... otherwise known as thrush...

I would ask my doctor for a good med and also check out why you keep getting them. Check out the diabeties - many don't know they have it or are borderline... or try going to a Nateopath and see what they have to say - my son was greatly helped a few years ago by one...

yeast infection

Just wanted to give a little FYI to you. There is new yeast infection on the market that is perscrption called Cyldamine or something like that. It is a one dose ovual and boy does it work. I had a yeast infection about 10 days before my hyst that had been lingering for almost a month and that med took it out in just a day and a half. I never used anything that was quite as effective. Just ask your dr about the new one and they will probably know what you are talking about. They may even have info on it. It is awesome. I think I have another infection creeping up on me and am going to ask my dr about it tomorrow at my checkup. Will let you know for sure tomorrow the name of that med when i get home. Talk to you later. Dianna
