anterior & posterior repair

Hi...I am booked for a surgery on 12th august to have both these repairs done at same time. I am very worried about this and looking for some reassurance if anyone has had this done. I had hysterectomy 1997, previous to that colpol susspension 1992. I have got it in to my head that I am going to be in agony after the operation and terrified of the thought. Please if anyone has anything to say will you say it...I would really appreciate it.
cheers

anterior & posterior repair

Hello footer!

I know just how you feel...I was there a few months ago myself. I had anterior, posterior, enterocele and vault suspension all done at the same time by a uro/gyn.
He was wonderful and I am VERY happy I had these repairs done. The first week I couldn't get myself comfortable no matter what I did. The Percocet kept the pain under control, but to tell you the truth I didn't need that many. It did hurt when I had to empty my bladder, but only at the end. In time that did go away. I know this is easy for me to say, but try to not get too freightend. This surgery was ALOT easier than my TAH/BSO 3 years ago! Take care and post whenever you need to let those "scardies" out!!

anterior & posterior repair

May I ask how long you knew you needed to have these repairs done? I noticed last week that I have recotcele (sp) and have an appointment on the 9th with my surgeon. This appointment is actually my 6 week post op but he will address this problem while I am there. I guess I am just wondering is you had these problems for a long time and just waited or just found out about them? I am a bit worried myself, I don't want any more pain but I want to be able to have a BM easier!

I sure hope your surgery goes well and you heal quickly. I will be thinking about you!

anterior & posterior repair

Trish,
I had the works done at once and have been very pleased with the results. I'm still having some issues with granulation, but it is gradually improving. As far as pain, I had very little - didn't even need drugs in recovery, although that is unusual. I was uncomfortable sitting down the first few weeks and would advise getting one of those dough-nuts. Since you've already been through surgeries, you're going to have a good idea of what to expect for healing. You should do very well.

Jenn,
I had a prolapse after the birth of my second child and was told I'd need it eventually. 20 years later I actually had the surgery. It's really a matter of how much it bothers you. Some women are willing to put up with a lot more than others and everyone has different thresholds of pain.

Good luck to both of you.

Jenn,
Please make sure you wait until you have totally healed from your hyst. before you have other repairs done - I can't imagine having more surgery at this point and your internal stiches haven't totally healed yet. Best of Luck to you both.
