On the countdown :-(

Well, I am pretty nervus. Only 4 nights left to go...my surgery is 7 am wens.

I freak out so easily (hystericly freaking out) that I had to be medicated just to TALK to the doc yesterday, nothing else. So now now they have me on effexor, xanex, and sleeping pills. I am pretty loopy now.

Just need to vent, but the emotions arent there enough to verbalise it too well, lol

I was on xanex occasionaly, and daily effexor anyway, for panic...but now I am on MORE. With the increase in meds, and the addition of sleeping pills, I am pretty foggy right now. I am still worried that they will have to pry my white knuckled claws out of the dash of our car, then drag me into the hospital kicking and screaming.

I have done that before unfortunately (to have 24 teeth removed and my lower jaw bone reshaped). I wasnt on any meds for panic or anything back then...so I hope that this time, WITH all these meds, I wont be like that. It is sooo embarasssing afterwards :-(

I am no longer affraid of the surgery itself...and I am not as worried about how I will feel when I wake up. What I AM still petrified about is IF I WILL wake up at all.

Oh waht a mess.... :-(

To my fellow wednesday Sister

Thank you :-)
I know I will be fine...my heart just needed to hear it again :-)

I feel like I am being such a baby, and that I might be milking this for as much attention as I can. That doesn't help the stress either, huh lol.
We are the rocks of our homes and families..it's hard to allow ourselves to crumble.

As for the pain, I don't know all the abriviations yet, so I don't know what type of hyst you are having....but I have been told, by many IN and NOT IN the medical feild, that women tend to wake up feeling like they are having menstrul cramps. I will be thinking of you too, and hoping for very mild to non existant pain for you when you wake up :-)

Hi~

I'll start out by saying you are very LUCKY to be having your surgery so early. That will definitely help with your anxiety not having to wait for surgeries before you that would cause a delay in yours. I just had my surgery this past Monday and I was first surgery of the day at 7:30 as well.

I do have another suggestion...as you sound very much like me...
In pre op I was given VERSED (very common drug before going into the OR) and could never had gone through any of my surgeries without it! Perhaps you can discuss this with your DR...I promise you, you will feel no anxiety at all if given this medication when they take you in.

Best wishes for a speedy and uncomplicated recovery!

Mrs. Gnarly & ganurse97,
Just wanted to say that when I woke up after my TAH/BSO, I really did not have a lot of pain. More discomfort than pain. I diden't like the catheter thingy at all, that gave me a weird sensation! But as far as actual pain, it was very well controlled.
Yes, you will be fine!
How could you not, with this powerful army of Women sending you good & careing thoughts?

I, too, suffer from panic attacks. I have been on medication for a couple of years now after they got so bad I would "shut down". Working with my doctor, we have me on a regime that allows me to control the attacks. Not that I don't have a moment or two when a situation first hits, but I am able to get my thought process going and reign the attack in. I believe with the medication you are taking, you will be able to do the same thing. And not embarrass yourself or cause yourself undue stress.

My TAH is schedule for August 25. I've become compulsive about making list..what to take to hospital, what to get at grocery store, what items to move to the bedroom to make me more comfortable when I come home, etc. My plan is that if I do panic, I'll have lots of lists to refer to so I can get back in control. And I have been spending a lot of time on line. HysterSisters seems to bring me a great deal of comfort.

It's going to be OK for both of us. Not a fun activity that we're undertaking but we can make it.

On the countdown :-(

I am so glad to see these posts Surgery is scheduled for Friday August 12 @ 7:30. I also have the fear that I will not wake up. But I know that my work on this earth isn't done! and am trying to keep positive thoughts in my head.

I just came back from a girls weekend, with 3 of my girlfriends that I have known since we were 5. They were a great help and all hugged me when leaving and said everything will be find. See you in the hospital.

My husband and sons are my support system at home. I will walk into that hospital on Friday morning with my chin held high and be relieved that I will no longer have 6 and 8 week periods and own every shape, size and brand of sanitary napkin made. No more anemia or bringing and extra set of clothes to work with me, and finally will be able to wear light colored clothes again!!

God bless and good luck to everyon this week
