vacuuming - what did I do to myself? any one else go through this?

TAH 6/27/05
Saturday I went all out in cleaning and vacuuming. Nothing hurt while I was working, but for the past 2 days my lower right side, feels like where my ovary was, is hurting anytime I move, even when I turn over in bed. I'm a little scared and could just beat myself up for this. I hope it is just a muscle and that I didn't tear anything. I was doing so well, but just overdid it. Tomorrow is my 6 week checkup. So I will ask the Dr. but I wanted to ask you ladies first what you thought.
Thanks for any input!

I am four weeks out from my tvh/bso, when I overdo I get pain on my right side as well. After a couple days of rest I feel better, so good luck and let us know what your doc says.

Good Luck,

I had several problems with things like that. Do ask your dr., but more than likely you just pulled an already swollen muscle or stitches. Be very careful and REST.

The potential problem is not just immediate pain. If you read this you will find that "going all out" can result in scar tissue and adhesions to your abdominal muscles. This can mean pain every time you use these muscles--long term. My doctor told me that avoiding lifting (which includes any pulling, tugging, or other activity involving he abs) is the most crucial limitation I have. I had a TVH (no ab incision) and yet he was firm about continuing the limitations.

Thank you for sharing your experience(s)

I have been so tempted to do something like vacuum or walk my large dogs. After reading these posts, I am going to rest, recover and allow healing to continue!

I read, watched tv and joined a movie rental site so the movies were delivered to me. By the third week I had become a pro at doing nothing. I think it was especially important to have someone come and clean the house every couple of weeks. Even if you can only afford it one time, it will help you resist the temptation to get the vacuum and mops out. I'm now back at work and have to laugh at how I made it through the day by watching Judge shows and talk shows

Wvturtlelover...Here are my suggestions, and yes, they are boring!! Read, walk, shower, rest, read, watch tv, play on the computer, walk, rest, attempt to prepare meal, rest, walk... you get the idea. Rest and look after yourself. As I've read on here over and over, "You only have one chance to heal". Good luck!

Oh Clarissa!!

Hi sister,

We're same week princesses, you and I. I have also been vacuuming although I have concrete floors, no carpet. I don't think you have done anything, really. It's been close to 6 weeks and I'll bet you just used a muscle that had been dormant for a while and it twinged on you. Please don't worry yourself into a bad state about it. You are seeing the doctor, correct? I predict you are okay. Your friend, Patty

If you are on this board, why would you even consider vacuuming? I am not trying to be mean spirited in any way, but I think it is very clear from the readings and posts that vacuuming is a NO-NO for awhile.
It could be a pulled muscle or it could be you messed up some stitches inside. I would for sure take it easy for a few days and do no cleaning.
