Going back to school!!

Well ladies - I am jumping off the deep end going back to school... I graduated in 1984 so this is BIG step for me and my family...

I was laid off from my job in June and I am going for re-training. I have to take 5 high school courses as they must have been completed within the past 5 years for the program I am going for. So I am taking Eng 12, Math 12, Bio 12 (new), Chem 11 and Physics 11 (also new)...

I am almost 1 month now with my new crown... and still not totally up to snuff - I see my doc today to get some blood work results - and I am hoping everything is ok... I know I have at least 1 if not 2 hematomas in there - I can FEEL the suckers! I have had a few complications post but most are now almost behind me...

So I am ready to move on and keep going - I am starting with Chem 11 first and hoping to blaze through it quickly... I am only going to do one course at a time as I have a TBI (tramatic brain injury) from an accident 8 years ago... and I have a some cognative issues to work around...

Thanks for reading my post...

Hugs!

Going back to school!!

Shauna,
Congratulations!!!! It's never too late to go back! What are you studying (after you finish the basics)? Tackling Senior level high school Chemistry, Math, and English would stop me in my tracks at this point.

Going back to school!!

Thanks for the thumbs up...

I am going to take Cardiologist Technician - first a one year certificate then complete the two year diploma while working - and eventually specialize somehow - I personally would like to do the pace maker and end up helping in the OR - I always wanted to be a nurse - so this would be fairly close in my opinion...

So you can understand all the science and math I need...

Hugs!

Going back to school!!

Congrats and Good Luck to you! I just know that you'll do great and we are all proud of you. I too have been wanting to take some classes again, actually signed up too, but can't get myself to take the step. Too much going on right now. Keep us posted and let us know how you do!

Best wishes,

Going back to school!!

Good for you Shauna! I just graduated from college this past May, at the grand young age of 42! It took me awhile, but I kept at it. A class here, a class there. I thought I would never finish, but I did! And I am so glad that I started and kept pushing myself to finish. You can do it! Registering is the first step.

Going back to school!!

Thanks for ALL the support - I am blessed with a supportive family - and I am hoping to get better marks than my son in grade 12 does this year! Talk about motivation!!

I have almost completed the first of 8 assignments in Chem 11 - but I need a couple of things I will have to get at the store tomorrow to complete it...

So I am tackling Math 12 tonight - oh the fun of re-learning it all! I am glad it starts off with a GOOD review as I would be almost LOST without it!!

Hugs!

Going back to school!!

Wahoo!! I finished my first math 12 assignment and I will finish my first Chem 11 assignment...

I was holding off replying until I had done my math - as a motivator!! I spent SEVEN hours doing the math assignment yesterday - after several days of reviewing questions first... but I finished it!!

There is a GREAT tutor site online - and if your local library (US mostly but a bit in Canada) has connected to it - it is FREE!! Check out tutor.com it is GREAT - I still have my hair and it isn't all grey yet as a result!! The book I have is a harsh one for being out of school thus far for the review section... even the tutors had to think hard!!

They do grade 4-12 tutoring for ALL subjects...

Hugs and THANKS for the support - it will be a great motivator!!

Going back to school!!

Congratulations!!
I started back to school 3 years ago at the age of 39 half-time (2 classes at a time). I will be finished with my prerequisites and apply for the nursing program this fall!! Like you I also had some high school classes to take as well. I am sure that you will be glade you made this decision.
It has been hard but my DH & DS's have been great!
Good luck and keep us posted.
