New here--complex hyperplasia with atypia

Hello, I'm new here. I had a D&C on Friday, Aug. 5 and was told on Friday, Aug. 12 that I have complex hyperplasia with atypia. My gyno is referring me to a gyno/oncologist. I'm 30 and do not have children. My DH and I have been ttc for almost 8 years but to no avail. I have had irregular/no periods for about 10 years and no doc did anything about it. I had to have 4 units of blood after bleeding for 4 days and still no D&C or biopsy because my doc was out of town. I decided to change gyno's because the first one takes 8 weeks of vaca a year and he was always gone when I needed him. The first time I saw my new gyno, she did a endo biopsy, but didn't get a good specimen because my uterus is tilted forward. She changed my birth control and I still bled even when I took 2 a day. That's when she decided to do the D&C. She also did blood tests and found that I am IR and have PCOS. She put me on 200mg of Progesterone and told me to take it 10 days for the next 3 months. I'm worried that I'm going to wait too long. I'm okay with having a hysto. because there are other ways to have children.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Hystersisters and the Cancer Concerns forum! I'm glad you've found us!

I was happy to see that you are seeing a gyn/onc--always a good idea in a situation like this. They are the experts, so it's definitely a good idea to get their input. I hope you are able to find a satisfactory treatment protocol that will take care things for you.

I'm sure some of the ladies who have had complex hyperplasia with atypia will be along soon to share their experiences.

New here--complex hyperplasia with atypia

I had a TAH/BSO due to severe atypical hyperplasia last November. My gyn told me a hyst was my only option. I was quite happy with this because I was 47 at the time.

A hyst is the only sure way of getting rid of this problem, so if you're happy to go down this path, i'd have it done sooner rather than later. My gyn also told me that it's only AFTER having the hyst that they can be sure there's no cancer. I do have to have check-ups for five years which is comforting, at least if there are any future problems, they will be caught early.

Good luck and please let us know what you decide.
