August 17th can't come soon enough!

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here, but I have to say so far most of the questions I had , have already been discussed.I have had horrible painful periods since they started, and theyre finally going to be gone.Ive tried many different hormone "treatments" (ie birth control )and they just dont agree with me. After the birth of my last child I had a tubal ligation.I was very worried that my periods would be even worse then they already were, so my doctor gave me the Mirena IUD.He said that he'd had alot of success with it helping bleeding. The first three months were great, i spotted one day, once a day, once a month, YAY! then the 4th month came, and i bled for 19 days, then the 5th 21 days, then the 6th 15 days, and then just continual spotting every day, if i stopped spotting and had sex, i was bleeding again. So I guess you could say ive basically been bleeding since May?have i mentioned how HAPPY i am to finally be done with this?I went to the doctor(a different dr then my norm) back in december of 03 who for an hour and a half argued with me about taking the pill. i said no, he said just try it!! i finally gave up.(my husband is in the military, so unless i want to cough out alot of money, my resource to change doctors wasnt very big) I tried his "solution" and altho she is adorable, and id never give her up, i was not at the time very happy to be having another child.within a month of being on his pill, i was pregnant.Which, was a blessing , because i got to change doctors.Back to the doctor who knew my history. He's also the one who wanted me to try the iud with my tubal , just so we could say hey weve tried all this, now lets get to business. He was wonderful, by far my favorite doc EVER.I kept him up to date with my bleeding, we tried a couple different things, making sure the iud was in place and shortening the strings, etc.and i kept bleeding anyway.Being the way i am, (i dont like to go and complain all the time to the doctors) i just kinda sucked it up and dealt with it.Until June 29th. I called my doctors voicemail and much to my dismay, altho it had been expected, heard that he was leaving and his last day of checking voicemail would be june 30th.He called me right back and told me that he would go ahead and put the recomendation in for me to finally get the hysterectomy that i had been pushing for for almost 2 years. He also recomended another doctor for me, and within a week and a half of seeing the new doctor, i have my date!I go in wednesday and i am extremely happy. I know ive rattled on too long, but i am truely so happy and relieved to be ending this nearly 15 yr battle with my uterus. Thanks for listening,

August 17th can't come soon enough!

I am so happy for you. I can totally relate to your story. I have been suffering for years with ovarian cysts and endo and have been begging for a hyst because none of the treatments have worked. I have been on many different birth control pills also and still am having heavy and horribly painful periods. My husband finally got sick of seeing me hurt and called to doctor himself and told him what I was going through because I didn't want to call and be a bother to him, therefore, because of my dear sweet husband have my pre-op appointment set for August 17. I am kind of nervous but excited to be PAIN FREE! (YYYYAAAAA!!). I will be praying for you to have a speedy recovery.

Dear Flannel & Kay,

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement.I really can't wait!! Altho i went to that pelvic floor site that i found on here, and OMG! can i pray for TAH instead of TVH???? It kinda freaked me out seeing the pictures of what they do. Having already had 2 c-sections i know what to expect with tah, but holy cow it looks aweful to go tvh.But either way i know i will be so much happier afterwards, when im not dealing with all this pain and bleeding.Good luck to you too flannel , i hope it all goes well for you and we can both sit back and enjoy being pain and bleeding free!
